kapla
I searched the forums for an answer and came up with a blank. Hope I can learn something new about adding my private music collections to EnB to hear it played in game. Is there a way to do so?? Thanks Devs
Woodstock HGM [HGM]
This not something the GM'S do not have control over. I'm moving it to the suggestions threads as it is more under that then GM help. Woodstock HGM

Kyp [LDEV]
This game pre-dates things that are pretty standard today such as MP3s, the sound/audio is stored in a special format, so it's likely not going to be that easy for you, although you can certainly play it on a playlist in any other media player of your choice behind the game. Cipher [DEV]
The version of the WW engine E&B uses supports .mp3, .wav, and .ogg audio, and the game's sound assets are pretty distributed between the various formats. The in-game music is broken up into a few mp3 files packed into the sound mixfiles ({RegionRace}Wander{ID0}-{ID1}, ex: TerranWander01-1.mp3 packed into mixfile_sound_09). It is possible to replace this music with your own mp3 files in the mixfiles, but you cannot add additional music that was not already there; you can only replace existing tracks with your own. To do so you will need a tool that can unpack and repack, or simply edit-in-place the appropriate sound mixfiles. I am hesitant to release my/our tools for this but you may find similar tools in the RenegadeTools pack or other W3D tool packs (although I can't endorse the safety of any of them). Note: This is completely unsupported by the emulator and the development team. If you break something it is up to you to fix it. (But if you send me a private message I'm more than happy to help you fix what you broke!) If you decide to attempt this, please be aware that if an update touches a mixfile that you have edited, you will have to re-apply the change you made to the newly-updated mixfile. Cipher [DEV]
Just a quick update to let you know, if you are still interested in this, that I will be providing a more user-friendly build of one of my mix editors along with instructions on how to switch the music out this weekend, likely tomorrow (Saturday).

Cipher [DEV]
On 2/16/2019 at 9:39 AM, kapla said: Interested, in the words of a great man..... "Hell yeah!" Alright, I apologize for the delay; I've had a lot to do and ended up just writing up a new mix editor as quick as I could for you guys. DISCLAIMER: This is not officially supported by any of the development team. If you want to do this please make sure you allow the Editor to back up any files that it recommends backing up. If you run into issues, use the backups that it created to fix the problem. If that doesn't work message me privately on the forums and I will help you fix the problem. If you run into any bugs with the Editor let me know and I'll fix it and re-upload. The only dependency / requirement is .NET 3.5 but you should already have that since LaunchNet7 also requires it. Instructions Download and extract MixEditor.zip (attached to this file), place it in it's own folder Make sure E&B is closed Figure out which music you want to switch out and which mixfile that music is in (check my post with the list above) Open Mix Editor.exe and go to File -> Open and open a mixfile with a song you want to replace You're looking for "<Earth & Beyond Folder>/Data/client/mixfiles" A message will show advising you to create a backup of the mixfile, select Yes Now you have a list of the embedded asset files. Look for the music file that you want to replace (you can sort by name by clicking on the column at the top) Right click the file you want to switch out/customize and click Replace Another message will pop up asking you to back up the original asset file, select Yes and save the file somewhere safe Next you want to navigate to, and select the file that you want to swap in it's place. The file must be in the same format (mp3 files can only be swapped for other mp3 files, etc) You'll get a message that the replace was successful. At this point you can move on to any other music you wanted to switch out. Here's a gif video showing me opening a mixfile and switching out a Jenquai track for a Track from Interstellar's OST. Note that I copied the mixfiles into the tool folder but you don't have to. https://i.imgur.com/GVzNhOu.gifv Download Mix Editor: MixEditor.zip 1
wootage
On a related note, how can the music files be played outside of EnB? Do the packed files need to be extracted into the original music formats? I'd just like to run the music as background sound for work Thanks for any help!
