twoshrubs
Hello, Just trying to set up E&B, doing the graphics setup and I get 'Your hardware does not support the requested video mode'. Now, I have tried every setting. I have a AMD R9 200 series card. Any ideas?
Janwarrior
Which Windows version are you using, also is it 32-bit or 64-bit?

Arthurdent [CDEV]
1) Run the E&BConfig.exe as administrator. Set the compatibility mode to Windows XP SP2 or Windows 7. 2) Set the test to run in windowed mode at it's highest resolution. 3) This should solve the problem. Most likely you are trying to run it in a full screen and that particular refresh rate isn't supported.
twoshrubs
Thank you, Arthurdent.. aye, I already tried that. I figured it out in the end.. I ran the Char and starship creator program just for giggles to see if that worked and it gave a different error, that it was a DirectX8 issue. So I did abit of googling and installed the following file (directX runtimes).. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35 E&B is now fully running.. Yay!! I hope that helps people!
Kyp [LDEV]
Thanks for the update, interesting that Win10 doesn't include the DirectX runtimes. I wonder when that came about, if you don't mind: What version of 10 are you running? Windows 10 Home N?
stevinium
This is odd... the link to the direct x version says this: Date Published: 4/18/2011 File Size: 286 KB Supported Operating System Windows 7, Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1, Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2, Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista, Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows XP Service Pack 3 Almost 6 yrs old. Arthurdent [CDEV]
That would likely be correct, as of Windows 7, the DX version was 10.1 at install, and update automagically with Win updates. The runtime you probably installed was 9.0c, which was likely last updated then.
Kyp [LDEV]
Aye, they stopped installing separately was my thought too, so that was very odd. I didn't have that problem with 10, but of course I upgraded from 7 this wasn't a clean install.
