1. Hmm. The website is only 1100-ish pixels wide, but I think there's some room to squish it a bit. I'm sure the web devs can whittle it down a bit to fit low-res 4:3 displays better.
2. So.... how bout that SOPA and PIPA, guys? I like government social welfare programs, but this is probably not the thread in which to discuss them. General Discussion would probably be better.
3. The English are the last people who should complain about being over-generalized or worry about PC-ness, lol. Also, there's no reason to fight amongst ourselves - our real enemy is those shifty Chinese...
4.
If you followed the instructions correctly it does fix the issue - the key is 'higest possible'. If you have a 16:10 1920x1200 monitor, the highest possible resolution for E&B without distortion is 1600x1200. With the Nvidia scaling set you can get the 4:3 scaling when you set the resolution to 1600x1200. If you try to fiddle it with 3rd party config tools or direct config file editing you'll get bad results.
He's talking about changing the render aspect ratio, not the display aspect ratio as output to the monitor.
5. We've been staving off a player wipe for a long time and the database is accordingly dirty and there is a rather large number of L150 toons out there. I think a player wipe is a good idea. I think the devs want to wait until alpha though, which should be any time now really, but I haven't taken a look at the checklist recently.
6.
yeah C# you are locked into one platform. Also it just feels ... icky ... coding in it, like Java. C# on linux? I can just see the linux gurus pulling their beards in consternation in the uni refectory over that one.
Oddly enough, I love C# and hate Java. Something about C# just feels better. Anywho, C# will produce more 'robust' code per man-hour than C/C++ will because of it's inherent exception-handling devices. I would love C# on linux, but because .NET support only comes from a third-party project instead of directly from M$, I wouldn't bet on it becoming a stable and usable platform any time soon. Don't get me wrong, if I need hands-on control of memory and efficiency is a huge concern, I like me some C, but for putting a project together quickly, C# takes the cake and honestly, you don't have to sacrifice a whole lot for that expedience.
7. Have you tried a forced update? You can do this through the "Launcher" menu in LaunchNet7 by clicking "Reset Updates", then clicking "OK" on the resultant dialog box.
8. Well, I don't think it's being caused by the SQL server, but I've upped the memory caches just in case. Orga, you said this happen no matter what browser you're using, regardless of having logged out and back in? If you would agree to it, I could log into your account and see if it happens to me as well, which would show me whether or not it's a general server issue. I would do this by resetting your password to something random (so I don't need your personal password), which you could change back later.
9. It loads just fine for me, both as a Member-level user and as a staff member. I will examine the forum's logs to see if there is a record of scripts timing out, as Zackman suggested.
10.
I wasn't requesting that anybody be assigned. I was musing that I could do it, but I'd need help with the networking side of things. I agree that focusing on the server is more important. Though there will always be people who want to improve the graphics. As has been said, the engine is outdated and improving the graphics with the current engine will just further tax it. I was at no time asking for resources, personnel or otherwise, to be allocated to me.
I would help with this. It should be noted that I'm a student and don't have a very large amount of time, but this is something I've always wanted to try as well, and I happen to be a decent C# programmer with some experience handling the network side of EnB. It's nothing compared to a new client, but I did write a chat client for the GMs that essentially tricks the server into thinking it's a normal client so it can send and receive chat, so I'm familiar with the data exchange that needs to take place at least up to and including avatar login.
11.
I have and it doesn’t, as others have tried. Seems like the rendering engine actually needs to have the ability to use AA before it can be set externally with the (NVIDIA) CP as with some other CP tweaks. It just can be more efficient to control it with the CP in some cases rather than the app managing it seems to be. And yes, it would be aspect ratio, were as FOV is more sort of like a fish-eye effect to increase peripheral view. Neither are present.
That's what I had thought as well. A true forced anti-aliasing effect would probably just make everything appear blurry anyway.
12. Try refreshing with a Ctrl-F5, which should reload the page from scratch. I suppose it's possible that something got messed up and it was cached that way... In the mean time I'll double-check the permissions.
13.
I can has?
14. What's the problem? Every time you try to preview the post it gets deleted? Have you tried this multiple times?
15. Finally restarting. That was a doozy of a crash. Someone almost got 170,000+ XP.
16. Sploops! Checking on the server now...
17. Does the launcher report that the server is online? It should say either "OFFLINE" or "ONLINE-###" in the "Server" group, below the "Host" box. In the launcher, there is a drop-down box entitled "Local IP". If there is more than one entry in that drop-down box, trying connecting once with each entry.
18.
If someone thinks they can record me a voice/broadcast for it, go for it. I'll add this.
If someone wants to script one, I do have the equipment to record it.
19. Not to imply that David's word was not final, but I took rather lengthy look into this and it would appear that Sneaky didn't do anything wrong. Vaden did start the conversation and was being rather belligerent based on his belief that Sneaky "took" some items of his (note that GMs cannot take or move items between characters, they can only delete them). I don't know about that underlying alleged incident, but Vaden in this case did drop the F bomb on a staff member, which is a no-no. It should also be noted that the ban is temporary and in effect for only 48 hours. As to the use of private conversations as a reason for a ban: this is quite a special case in that the private conversation was between a player and a staff member actively representing the project (that is, signed onto his GM account). One cannot simply /t a staff member and antagonize them without expecting to be corrected. This does not change the stated policy that private communications between players are to be kept confidential and could only ever be used as evidence of harassment, should one of those players report such a problem. That is to say that you may not berate other players using private messages, but we will not peer into your private conversations for any reason whatsoever without the consent of one of the parties, nor will we release private conversations for any reason. Lastly, it was not actually Sneaky that banned VadenTT; the issue was referred up the command chain as it should have been, and the Head GM found sufficient reason to enforce a 48-hour ban. I agree you should have been notified of the reason for the ban and of its duration, however, and I will mention this to the GM staff.
20. I actually made one that does that, but it keeps getting deleted. I'll post it up when I get a chance if you want.
21. I quite expect 'yes' to win this poll, but I find the song thoroughly annoying, so is this really worth spreading? Also, the word 'culture' may not be the best way to describe what this is...
22. I've always enjoyed the idea of making travel selectively dangerous in-game. Like, say you need to move some "goods"; maybe those "goods" are "frowned upon" in "certain communities", but you may have to cut through their territory to get your trade route done quickest. What would be even better would be a system whereby the faster you get to your destination, the more profit/XP you make. That would really make smuggling fun. Of course, if you get caught they'll throw you in the brig, take your cargo, and some kind of fine. Really, I'd just like to be Han Solo and/or a Red Dragon. This could be applied to factions. For instance, the Jenquai may dislike you moving genetic material for Progen cloning projects around their space, and the Progen may hassle you if you're hauling Jenquai pilgrims or some such nonsense. Of course, all three races are bound to act a fool if you're transporting some kind of illicit cargo, like hot TV sets, or "spice".
23.
Well that sucks, i read a post from jake in page 7, and he had the same problem i'm having when installing the enb demo client. I noticed he never was able to play the game ... I have a feeling i'm in the same boat. I did what Cdel told me to but it still doesn't work, still stopping at 13% then it fails. I hope Cdel has a better explanation for this.
What exactly is happening? Does the installer crash or does nothing happen? And you have tried making IE the default browser? Try running the demo installer as an administrator, if you haven't already. (I'm assuming you're running Windows Vista or 7; right-click on the installer "eandb_demo.exe" and click "Run As Administrator")
24. Try contacting a GM with a support ticket at http://support.net-7.org I would help you myself, but unfortunately I am away from my usual computer and don't have the tools required.
25. Ain't gonna happen - closing topic. (The poll bumps are becoming annoying)
