1. Hmm. That's odd. Try going through quickly and creating a character that isn't default, but only change one or two things. I would like to see if the problem is the customization or that the connection is dropping mid-character-creation after some period of time.
  2. I approve of the following: Some of the others were too far off the rest of the theme. I would like to keep them somewhat consistent if possible. I'm sure someone has done an expanded set for IPB, I will look.
  3. The 7500 is a very, very old card. The choppiness you were experiencing might have been due to the limitations of the card more than anything, although there's no reason newer drivers should completely break 3D funcitonality. Are you using this driver: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/radeon-prer300-xp.aspx ? It's catalyst 6.11.
  4.
I wouldn't start with the server for learning how to program, but each to their own!
True, the server is mad hard for a beginner.
  5.
Really?? That would be a major deal, would think it would have already been grabbed up by someone. Even SOE couldn't fail at that, where games go to die. Or some Korean game company. That's like a fraction of the cost compared to most other game engines, and not even beyond the development platform where as this is polished content with all the licensing tape sticky to it's underside which would inflate the fees and cost one would think. That's like nothing, salary for a couple programmers for a year, and for a stable system.
True, but I don't think this game has any real earning potential anymore, not without a new client and completely re-done content. As much as I love EnB, I would have a hard time investing in it myself.
  6.
Has anyone ever told programers you guys are nucking futz... Keep up the good work I think =]0-O[=
Every day of our lives. Also, Mouse: I'm not sure if you saw my previous comment, but I have a good working knowledge of the EnB packet structure, I can at least get from startup through login network-wise, and I would be willing to help out. I would like to go into video game programming in a year and a half when I'm done with college, so this would be good experience for me to have.
  7.
Databases with dirty data just mean someone is not inclined to spend the effort cleaning it up.
This is a volunteer project. If you see something that doesn't get done, it's not because we're lazy it's because we don't have time. I'm going to be blunt with you here: that kind of comment is rather insensitive. Nobody pays us for this, none of those donations help us out and, because we spend so much time working on the game, many of us don't even have the extra time to actually play the game. Also, there's no sticky asking for help because it's not necessarily needed at the moment. The majority of bug finding is done on the stress test server by players, so we only need Betas to test a few specific things, like missions and raids before they're pushed to the public server.
  8. Firstly, there's a big difference between beta testing and stress testing. Beta testers test things specifically, they don't really have the time to run through the entire experience from level 0 to 150 - they just run through missions, test processes like trading, exploring, or what have you and report their experiences. What we're doing on Sunrise is more of a stress test, where everyone is playing as if we were live, which lets us find problems which arise from server loading, extensive player-to-player interaction, and the extreme attention to detail that a player will naturally gain over an extended period of time really playing the game. What that all means is essentially that more beta testers won't help in the same way that a player wipe would. Secondly, the database is dirty and the best way to clean it up is a wipe. This is something the devs have put off for a long, long time already and it needs to be done sometime. Thirdly, and perhaps most importantly, the PP will pwn at PvP; that's who I'd be worried about, not the PS.
  9.
How about the keyboard I mentioned? http://www.artlebede...ptimus/maximus/ The keys are full color light up displays that can be reconfigured on the fly. So one could, in theory, set up one's number keys to show the icons of the game's power/equipment tray. How cool is that? And the keyboard only costs $2100!
I've seen that keyboard before, and I would love to have one. Next time I happen to have $2100 and nothing to spend it on (i.e. without a girlfriend), I'll consider it, lol.
  10.
Also, https://forum.enb-emu...nate/donate.png is broken
Well, I'm not sure what that icon is supposed to be for, but I resized an N7 logo to fit.
  11. Nice, didn't know they have mono specifically for android. I'm going to have to look into that.
  12.
I'm liking this Ostendo CRVD display... http://www.crvd.com/why.php Mmmm... 2880 x 900 resolution.
Ooooo. Me likey. It would be nicer if it were a bit higher-res though, and if it didn't cost $6500. o.O
  13.
I dont know what server u running and what firewall, but if you want i can help you and supply you with ip-frames to block. Russia and Turkey on it as well - since they are also in the top ten of SPAM originatings in 2011.... Tnx for editing the quoted spam out of my previous reply, was going to do it anyway after a reply.
I would love to have those IP ranges. Honestly, having to research them is probably the only reason I haven't pushed to block those countries already, lol.
  14. It is likely that you're missing the Visual C++ Redistributable, which you can get here: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=29
  15. I've put some logic-based test questions on the registration form now, so assuming we're not being spammed by Watson, we should see a decline in spam. (Or so I hope)
  16.
Why? Every time I update my sigs on Net-7 they a reload of any page showing my sig here on enb-emulator instantly updates. I wouldn't worry about seeing it change WHILE someone is viewing it.... I'd think a once a day update would do - even once a week if the server load was too much. It seems that you are discussing two approaches, one simply doing the same thing as when I click on the signature automagically and then still having a cached image to be viewed, the other creating the image "on demand" (using php's imagepng() I'd assume)
The difference is really between just always re-caching the images every day or updating them when they're accessed if they're more than a day old. Upon thinking it out, I don't think the processing overhead on checking the file modification date could be too bad, so I would agree with karu and Slayerman that this is the way to go. I will see about the dynamic image deal. Edit: I checked and dynamic images are enabled. You may fire when ready.
  17.
May not be $625 anymore. It would be great if someone could post how much has been donated but not shown, or add it to the tracker. I'd like to know the status before I donate so I can adjust my donation to a suitable ammount.
Just give all your money. I'm sure someone who can access the paypal account can post that data next time they come around. I'm not sure exactly who has access to that.
  18.
Ban the chinese IPs already, C Del....
I'd like to actually; I'm getting tired of their spammers. What's funny is that particular piece of spam was actually Russian, so we have them to worry about too...
  19.
ehh.... stop. You either run a script that deletes cached image when they get too old and then launch update script when said image is accessed (404 error) ... or you proxy all requests thru said script which then decides if image needs updating or not.
That had occurred to me, but the thought of deciding whether or not to update the image every time it's pulled seemed unattractive, especially given the very large number of views these images probably get.
  20.
although why anyone would buy a 16:9 monitor is beyond me ...
Newegg told me it was 1920x1200! I meant to send it back, but, you know... I got distracted and then it was too late. /me laments
  21. I recently added Baidu to the user agent list to track the number of hits we get from them, and it's quite a bit. I've been considering blocking their IP ranges, mostly because it's a Chinese search engine, and honestly, how many Chinese have ever heard of EnB? Probably none, so we're getting hit hard and not really getting any benefit from it.
  22. I think this is some code of Westwood's that's biting us right now. I had this problem when I was writing a new launcher a while back and could never figure out where it came from. The text in that error doesn't appear anywhere in our code as far as I could tell.
  23.
Oh, and while this is a ? about net-7 topic, it'd be nice if one day we didn't have to manually update our sig/banners
Yeah, I know what you mean, but it would take a gnarly bit of processing to do them all over and over again methinks. I could see re-generating them once every day. Would that be enough?
  24. Haha, you're going to give Tienbau nightmares with that 5760x1080 shot.
  25. Lots of languages do not support the exponent operator ^. I would look for a function to do this for you. In C++ I think it's something like pow(x,y); where the result is x^y. It also depends on whether we're talking about Win32 delphi or .NET delphi, but there appears to be an example of how to do it for Win32 here: http://www.festra.com/wwwboard/messages/2170.html
