1.
Yes, I forgot to mention that this would also probably imply the need to be able to see what the sell price will be when you purchase the item. In the tooltip it would probably have to say, "Station X is paying Y credits for this good" or something like that.
Yes, but even with this you are still humping to a starting station to even find out whether that trade run is (currently) paying top dollar. Without some manner of viewing the current status of the various trade routes that does not require the player to actually spend the time to go to the terminal it's still a lot of trial and error. And that takes time. And that time is the primary factor in the equation - how much XP is being earned per unit of time? When the additional time to hop around to various stations *in search* of the optimal trade route is factored in, the XP/time ratio is (probably) diluted to the point that it's just better to take the old standby's.
 2.
Why does that sound like a line from Starship troopers (the first one)lol...
I'm thinking Colonel Steve Austin.
 3. If there was some way that the sell prices of the various goods at the receiving stations were published I would like this. Absent that it sounds like a lot of trial and error chasing where the hot routes are. As much as Eve bored me to tears I was always very impressed by the dynamic market capabilities they incorporated and the sophisticated ways the market data was made available. In some alternate reality where there would be an Earth and Beyond II (or even III) I'd imagine that type of functionality would have been a big part of the game.
 4.
Im in the USA and it took less then 48hrs to setup my bank account and my donation was in. -WT
Yeah, I didn't understand this either. I already had a PayPal account and each of my donations have gone through quickly and with no problem. There was a glitch for a bit about the forum not reflecting the PP donations correctly (and honestly have no idea where the issue was) but that's since been corrected.
 5.
Finally ^^ Already made it to the 4th episode in another Space: Above and Beyond marathon Guess I can call that off now.
"The Angriest Angel" ftw!
 6.
Figured it out, gotta select a new backround then it changes... Can Delete/Lock this one up!
You don't need to select a new background, you can select the same background that you are currently using.
 7.
I didn't spend too much time doing jobs in live, but as far as I can remember, most of the time was spent doing the jobs, not waiting for the terminals to refresh. I don't remember there being much competition for jobs, but that might have been because I live in europe and or prime times used to be a bit less busy than in the US if memory serves mer right. I'm all for lowering XP and increasing the amount of jobs. It helps even out the rate at which you can level at different times of day... I haven't done more than one round of jobs in the EMU though, since I didn't think the reward was good enough. At the level I'm at, it feels like I get more XP from traderuns, tours and prospecting....
The combo of your location and playing pattern must have created a real sweet spot for you with regard to Jobs, then. I can assure you that over here in the States, during Live, one needed Quake-like clickyness to try and get Jobs from the term. It was pretty common to watch the jobs list update and then be picked clean in seconds like an amazon deer that had wandered into a piranha infested river. If the moment of refresh was one that the player had decided to squander on, say, typing a message into chat then that player was doomed to wait, jobless, for the next refresh.
 8.
Tien- Would it be too stressfull on the server to up the amount of Jobs at each Terminal or Decrease the re-spawn on the jobs? I just started doing jobs and its very clear to me and everyone else who standing at the Job Terminal with me that there just dont seem to be enough jobs to go around. 2-4 people end up in a mouse clicking war over the 4-5 jobs that pop up every 4-5 mins. -WT
But the click wars are the most fun part of jobs!
 9.
I registered with the forums and launch net 7. Why does the game keep telling me I haven't completed registration? I registered with both things I was supposed to. I'm not seeing anything else I need to do. Can anyone explain this to me?
Can you please be a bit more specific as to what "I registered with both things" means? It would be helpful to name the domains, whether you received confirmation emails from each, whether you clicked the confirmation link in those emails and successfully confirmed, . . . There's a number of places where the process can go off the rails.
 10.
I think it's a ridiculous argument either way with any donation or profit, mmorpg's must be maintained. I seen a website that host millions of videos where as I can watch or view them for free no need to sign up. They still encourage you to donate. So far this site was taken to court for copyright infringement once by a foreign country named Malaysia. Malaysia lost it's case and the website won. They won due to them not making profit off of the site, but by using donations for the maintenance of it and possible the "fair use" act. It's nice idea if they could market something that pertains to the Net-7 team and not EA's game entirely. If a musicians can get away with changing one note in an entire song, that was already produce by another musicians. Then whats stopping the think tanks from selling merchandise that shows devotion and inspiration from the Net-7 team?
It's difficult to follow just what you are saying but it appears that you are suggesting that because there's a *chance* that Net-7 could win in court against an infringement suit that it's worth it to conduct activities that might bring on such a suit. Understand - winning in court requires GOING to court. Going to court costs money - and typically the cost is directly proportional to the size of the opposing entity. EA is huge, Net-7 is small. If you follow the donation tracker you will see it's touch and go each month to make the amount required to pay all the costs - which is less than the fees any good attorney would require just to retain their services for such a case, let alone the actual billings that would later come. If taking discontinued games, writing EMU's for them, and then profiting on them was such a sound business idea - why is it you don't see anyone else doing it?
 11.
Jarod, You've hit upon an important point. People used a system like this in FFXI to save hundreds of items beyond their space limits to great success. Chances are there'd be guild vaults before something like this. Does everyone just simply distrust everyone else to the point that they can't transfer your items? Did I miss something about guild camaraderie in recent years?
I don't get it either, Kyp. Most of my chars "hang out" in F7 and if somebody posts in local chat they need help with a xfer I'm usually typing "I can help" but someone else usually beats me to the punch - and that's for non-guildies. I acknowledge that with (what I believe to be) a predominantly US player base right now there may be differences during "non-prime" (for US) time periods that might make it more difficult to get help with xfers - that's the only thing I could figure might be a factor.
 12.
Not quite. I am sure some type of system could be set up so that things didn't just sit there forever. That and the way I worded it, when you go to pick up at the NPC you don't get to pick and choose what you get, you get everything they have for you, all at once. If you don't have empty cargo space for it, it would go poof.
I don't see what would stop one from accepting the mass xfer, saving off the items one wants, then re-engaging the NPC to re-store the remainder. Heck my PW would begin to use this as his primary ammo vault as each time I'd come back I'd be out of ammo and have lots of space to accept it. As to things going poof - I don't have any problem with it - but given the hue and cry in another thread clamoring to have the dev's craft a way to allow players to get back items they mistakenly sold to NPC's . . . I'd think the dev's would have enough foresight to see that this just sets them up for more complaints about "I lost my stuff!".
 13. OK, now you've really just described expanded vault space - with apparently no limit.
 14. 6 stacks of ammo isn't going to do much for most non-ammo building chars. My PW (non-ammo building by choice) routinely burns through dozens of stacks in an hours worth of combat. My TT typically builds/xfers to him in lots of 40+.
 15.
All depends on the hosting company, the bandwidth provided, and how you define 'notably'
Wurd!!!
 16.
I play an explorer, I do not make these suggestions for my time issues. I do not consider it an easy button because it is not exactly difficult to fly anywhere. It is just a waste of time which doesn't fit a free to play model. I am making these suggestions to potentially increase the fun to every person that plays. I don't think an improvement to the game should be dismissed because it allows people to enjoy the content of the game rather than wasting their time, eventually showing another weakness of the game. That just means the next weakness needs to be addressed as well in order to continue to improve the gaming experience.
You start off saying it's not a time issue . . . then you go on to contradict yourself by stating it's a time issue - twice.
 17.
you must be thinking about Freelancer EnB mod or something as in EnB live* no mob aggroed when you flew past them in warp. * at the time of sunset of-course. what happened very early in live or even in beta is irrelevant.
There were Pirates, in Live, that were on a Nav route that would sometimes cause you to drop out of warp. They would demand tribute be paid. If you refused, they would fire on you. If you paid them, sometimes, they'd still fire on you. It was very rewarding once you had your level up high enough to be able to tell them to stuff it and smoke them.
 18.
I wasn't saying to jump to unexplored locations. Did you read the post? Most people get tours anyway. You would not be forced to use it either. If you want to take the long way, you would be more than welcome to. EDIT: Your giving me negative rep on my post because you didn't even bother to read the first one? Grow up man.
What would be the point of higher level/quality engines and speed devices if one can just WH everywhere? Wouldn't this undermine the market for those (assuming, at some point, some balance is restored to game economy)?
 19.
Im not seeing what you are describing
You are logged into the Portal and you don't see buttons like "Account", "Database", etc? Are you sure you are logged into the Portal?
 20.
ive got a similair problem i right click on the creator shortcut on desktop click on properties under shortcut tab in the target line i added -noclassrestrictions this is the exact line "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Earth & Beyond\Character and Starship Creator\Character and Starship Creator.exe" -noclassrestrictions click on apply then ok launch creator and still have no 3 extra classes just the original 6 this is on windows 7 and windows xp what is wrong?
So you are tabbing through all of the selections using the arrows on the screen and the 3 new classes are not showing up?
 21.
terribly sorry ran a search did'nt really see anything like ths if i am mistaken my bad guess i'll stick to the differing dbs and write my own info for the items i would like and just use the net 7 db for build comps
Sorry if I sounded harsh, that wasn't my intent. Essentially the Net-7 team has said that they won't be providing drop information specifics (what drops something and where) anymore. They have also said, however, that they have no problem with players developing their own resources to store/provide this information (pretty much as it was in Live).
 22.
How do I get it to list my Toons ? is there a thread somewhare with instructions ?
Perhaps I am misunderstanding the question. You *should* only need to login to the portal with the username/password of the *game* account that corresponds to the characters you want. Example: you have 3 characters - Manny, Moe, and Jack all belonging to an account with the username of "Peppyboy". You login to the portal as Peppyboy and select the "Account" button at the top and then the "Signatures" tab. You should now see the Signature Generator panel with each of your characters listed below. Select which character that you wish to generate/update a sig. Select one of the backgrounds on the panel that follows. There should be a little spin-thingy while it builds and then click "Close" when it's done. Once you've generated the sig you want to have appear here in the forum select the text at the bottom after "Forum:", inclusive of the left-most "img" and right-most "/img" brackets, copy (Control-C in Windows) and paste (Control-V) into the Edit Signature box (My Settings->Profile->Change Signature). Note: the .sig will not auto-update as you increase your character's levels. You will need to go back into the Sig Builder and reselect the char to rebuild the sig - but you won't need to cut and paste anymore (though you might need to refresh to flush the cached image in your browser).
 23.
So in the last few days i have seen 2-3 different people plugging different sites for database information. Why not just make the database we have on the net 7 site valid, and instead of hiding the drop of said items why not show percentages and where an item drops from would help to validate loot tables as well as provide a trusted source of information for the new people like myself instead of having 3-4 suggestions of where to go to look something up.
The question of whether drop locations is going to be shown on the Net-7 dbase has been asked and answered, multiple times. Do we really need another thread to re-hash that?
 24.
Working much better now, no delay to start mining after warp. I have noticed that in addition to mining, both L1&2 cloak and powerdown also used the same rules for whether the ship was 'moving', would it be possible to seperate and return them to the previous PITA system, while keeping mining on this new system? Powerdown could be exploited for advantages as it is now (moving while powered-down), cloak is irrelavent since noone uses L1/2 after they have combat cloak which can be used while moving anyway. Or have Powerdown bring the ship to a stop, the same way activating the prospect beam does.
Mostly good points but (very) minor disagreement about low level cloak - I still use it if I need to go AFK for a while in a guarded ore field as the low power drain allows my char to stay there virtually indefinitely. Have no problem being stationary before I can exercise it (like before), though, think that's a valid restriction. Back to the main point - thank you Tien, I'll have to get back out there and check out the changes. It was really a pain before and why I stopped mining for a bit.
 25.
All; Not sure if this is know or not but I noticed a couple patches ago. When I try and do a patch it works; but then when I launch my Norton stuff say net7proxy.exe is doing something suspicious and it removed. I then have to go back, relaunch, advanced and ask for a total update. Update works and then it works just fine.
It's unfortunate that Norton doesn't prompt the user. I run TrendMicro and after every patch to Net7 it detects the program has changed the next time I run it and prompts me to either allow the program to continue (and stores that so no prompt needed the next time) or to disallow the program. Perhaps there's some admin setting for Norton that might provide more interaction?
