  2. Hello allz. (searched for my issue before posting) returning player, having a issue where it says i am not using the right launcher. i just set up the game for another returning player, and it worked fine. setup: windows 10 home amd ryzen card 8gb onboard ramm install -> client first end up 2nd net7 launcher 3rd Set everything to compatibility modes and run as admins. i keep getting this error, and the program autpmatically closes. I know i am connected to the server, because this only happens when i enter the "right" password. Entering the wrong password, gives me the error message, wrong password try again. when i enter the right one, it says use the default launcher and closes. please if anyone knows how to deal with this issue let me know, thanks and have a great day.

  9. Hello all!!!       Over the past few weeks I have had a lot of people ask me to organize raids for them, and also I noticed sometimes public waits for me to get home from work to lead the raids. I know they have the man power to do it on their own while im at work. So... im starting this thread to give some helpful pointers and tips on how to throw your raids, weither they be public or private.         Points:   1. Verify Trigger/Raid is Ready   2. Set a time frame   3. Inform your raiders of the particulars of the raid your running.   4. Inform your raiders of the loot rules   5. Form your groups   6. Lead the raid during the battle   7. Loot and Distribution   8. Thanks         1. Verify the Trigger/Raid is Ready   This is important, if you cry wolf too many times, or if you from up, in anticipation of a spawn, and it never shows, you hurt your standings with the raiding community.   Triggers: Name / Raid it Starts / Location Ascendant Voltoi (if you have synthesized crystal lvl 7)             (AV Raid)                                     Dahin Scavenger Drone ZX1                                                                (Controller Raid)                          BBW Communications Array SDX                                                       (RD Base Raid)                            AP Servant of Edward Teach                                                           (Ghost of Blackbeard Raid)          Paramis Harvey                                                                                         (Tada-o Gate Raid)                     Cooper 4th Group of 66/65/63                                                                 (Scooter & Gen'ril Raid)               DT     --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- With the exception to the DT Raids, all the triggers are pretty much str8 forward.   The Triggers in DT are a lot harder to locate.   @ The Roost Nav - The trigger is a 4th group of 66/65/63 with the 66 leading the group. If you have 4 of these groups near the Roost, Scooter Raid is ready @ The Edge of No Place Nav  - The trigger is a 4th group of 66/65/63 with the 66 leading the group. If you have 4 of these groups near the Edge of No Place Nav, Gen'ril McDanner Raid is ready   -these can be further isolated to figure which one of the 4 groups is the actual trigger by killing all 4 skuttlebugs, and waiting to see which group dosent get a respawn of the skuttlebug. That will be your trigger group. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------     2. Set a Time Frame.   Set a time, that is reasonable for all parties involved. If you run your raid @ 12AM at night PST, its 3am on the east coast. So you have to try and find a neutral time, everyone can be available.   Also set a time frame. ie. 1hr to do the raid, 1.5hrs to do the raid.  Letting the people know how long they can expect to be tied up, helps prevent people from having to leave early, and leaving you short for complete the raid, or drag it out unnecessarily.   3. Informing your raiders of the particular of the raid your running.   This is where you discuss ammo choices, and tatics.   This is a rough list, if you see something that's not right, you can post on this post, and I can refrence/edit things.   Raid / Ammo Types (best to weakest) / Tactics Ascendant Voltoi / EMP Plasma Impact Explosive / 2 groups sit in one spot and tank and spank Controller Raid / Chemical Plasma Impact Explosive / 2 groups - 1 takes bosses 1 takes adds. Rd Base Raid / Chemical Plasma Impact Explosive / 2 groups - 1 takes bosses 1 takes adds. Ghost of Blackbeard / EMP Chemical Plasma Explosive Impact / 2 groups - 1 takes bosses 1 takes adds. Tada-o Gate Raid / Plasma Impact Energy Explosive / 1 group - kill bosses last Scooter Raid / Chemical Plasma Impact / 2 groups - chasing sparkles - Boss Last Gen'ril McDanner Raid / ALL Types (shields change every 10-20 seconds to a different ammo type reisit. / 2 groups - chasing sparkles - Boss Last   4. Informing your raiders of the loot rules.   Not everyone is a veteran to raiding, so sometimes you will have to explain how the loot works. As the leader of the Raid, you can set these rules up, as you see fit. However, if your rules are unreasonable or crazy you may have a hard time gathering interest in your raids.   This is how I run the Public Rotation raids, and my own personal raids.   Rules: 1 win per person, no using alts for extra rolls. we use /random 1 100 1 and the highest number wins. If your unsure of the rules of the looting than ask.   5. Forming your groups.   Forming the groups is pretty easy and a lot of people have multiple lvl150 toons, so if your short on something, people can switch to fill in the holes.   You should have a TE in every group for the Rally Buff.   Generally speaking I setup groups with 1 pw 1 te 1 tt and a offhealer (JS/PP/TS) than fill in the 2 spots with whatever is available.   The PW is your agro taker, he keeps the aggro  off the healers and softer targets.    The TE is your Hacker and Rally. The rally gives extra reisit to everyone in the group and makes them harder to kill.   Not spending much time on this subject.   6. Lead the raid during the battle.   Make sure you type in Local - you can use TeamSpeak, but remember not everyone is on teamspeak, and not everyone who didn't hear what u said will even ask you to repeat yourself.   Don't yell @ people or call them names. That's the fastest way to get people to leave and than your raid fails if you cant get people to replace them.   Be clear in your directions.   Keep an eye on both groups and make sure you pay attention to the spawns and waves so you can call out things as needed.   7. Loot and distribution.   List the items in a list with their Quality percentage, so that people can gauge which item they want to roll for.   Keep track of who won what, so you can make sure you enforce the 1win per rule.   I like to put a -------------------------- (line) when doing rolls to clearly identify its a roll and not a info/description.   Example:   120% Dragon's Fang lvl 9 ML TE Only - Buildable non-trade  /random 1 100 1 ----------------------------------------------------------   Here is the list of loot commands: command --- example --- Syntax   /loot add <playername> --- /loot add raidtank --- must have corpse targeted /loot release ---- /loot release --- must have corpse targeted /credit kill <playername> --- /credit kill raidtank --- must be in same system. No need to target looter.   8. Thanks     Remember to thank everyone for coming, thanking the looter, and paying special praise to anyone who performed out of the ordinary.         If you think of something I should add/remove/edit let me know, and i'll update.     thanks, Cia / Raidtank
  10.     I will serve on consul with Syber and the others.
  11. o/ Everyone   First let me start by thanking EFI for calling out for arms.  That was very nice, was a good learning experience of a raid, and a good time was had.   2nd. not really taking any sides to this matter, but I did mediate it at the end.   At no time before or after he was called out, did kodiac aka greywolf ever say he wasent going to do was was proper. at the same time he did say he was gonna space it. I didn't think he was serious. mr brown messaged me and told me to get the card from kodiac. So he initiated the transfer to get the situation handled. I didn't ask them.   I think this was just a incident of bad timing/communication.     3 people rolled on the hellfire access card. Me, Shisho/explorator, and reddscout. about 10 people sitting at the wreck. I messaged a few people who did not show up, and they said pass, didn't want to roll on something that caused this much drama.   Efi did say he would pass, as mentioned in his last post, and I posted in local at Fedd wreck in DT, I was in PM with efi.       Sorry for anyone who was present - and did not get to roll cuz of location/time of roll.   ---       Cia / Raidtank / Bot / Rager / Nabi / Feather / Missileboat
  12. o/   hey guys.   I don't wanna offend anyone or whatever. so i'll make my opinion simple.       Public had to jump thru hoops to get the raid rotation slot, they even had to pass tests! .....we got told we'd never be able to do it, and we'd be the ones wasting the triggers, then we weren't worthy to have a slot...       thanks, and like I said no offence intended, but anyone who has payed attention to the forums back when this rotation added public knows this is public knowledge.     Cia     (I personally think we keep skip week, and add the the dt raid once its deemed there is enough people with faction. (hopefully everyone who has faction will be allowed/raid together until that point))
  13. Server coming online! 10:36 am (PST) \o/
  14. Wireclub is Englishvirtue? I wasent aware of that, and I thought personally thought wireclub was an even more pathetic person than Englishvirtue. Funny how that works.     anyways back on Topic: (half ways back on topic anyways)   My poke was more of a joke, than a direct attack.   I did not post his name on my 1st post, as I didnt want people to avoid his raids. Only way hes going to get better at hosting raids is to keep hosting raids.   --In English's defence (I do not stand by any of his opinions or anything like that)   he does host a lot of raids(his triggers), and shows up at every public raid, rdy to die for the loot, hes shown up to every pub raid I have thrown.   Hes looted on serveral raids, as the designated looter, and no issues. (not my raids)   so to clarify my point. Hes a decent raider, and semi-trust worthy. He sticks to his "rules" in his raids. He follows commands when he joins other people's raids. He has TS.   he just extreamly opinionated, and has semi-alianenated himself to some of the Server.     So for a raiding standpoint, hes pretty decent. - his mouth...well... no one can control that.   I do not agree with any of his politics crap, or anything else. that's all on him.   I do not mind EV showing up to the raids I host. I just ask that everyone keeps the politics to themselfs, as I play this game to get away from IRL Drama.     Cia
  15. Hey There   As a returning playing from ST4, I have been raiding since I got up in lvl in Live. I have thrown lots of raids, been to a bunch of public/private and so far, I have thrown 2 successful Public fish bowl raids for the server.   There are several things that I think make a Public Raid a success.   1. Prep Time (Advanced Notice/Planning) 2. Group Building 3. Buffing/Gear 4. Strategy/Leading/Leader 5. Loot 6. Thanks     those 6 things make raids enjoyable and fun.     this is not a complete breakdown, but if you follow these little tips/points I think you will get a better understanding of why.   1. Prep. Letting people know you want to throw a raid in advance. I try to give 2hours advanced Notice. Sometimes I post the day before letting people know im planning it for the next day. This is very Important. People are in different timezones and countries. What might be optimal for you, may not be the best for everyone else. State the time and timezone, the people interested can than plan according, and make any changes in their day to accommodate.   2. Group Building. Very important. Most groups I see are JD/TE/TT/TT/DPSx2 - Most groups I form, will be similar - the groups can be changed to reflect the turnout from the Public. I ask that people interested send me a /tell letting me know their coming and what class(s) they are brining. Once I write them down on paper, I start puzzle piecing the groups together. 2 groups is perfect, 3 groups is faster. Ofcourse this depends on the actual people that show up. -some people don't allow dualboxing people, some people allow them, it is up to the leader of the raid. - I allow dualboxing, as long as no "solo" player is left out. - I have removed people's 2nd toon from my raids to make room for a non-dualer.   A mixture of all Races and classes is a great time. In addition to the raiders, you will need a "Looter" and some jumpstarters. People will die, and the faster they are jumpstarted, the faster they can heal again, or faster they can apply more dps to the mobs.   If you are raiding with more than 1 group of players "Credit Kill" is extremely important to make your public raid a success. What credit kill does is it links both of the groups together. Allowing a designated looter to loot all of the kills. Having one person loot everything makes keeping track of the items that drop, a less tedious task. The command to set Credit kill is "/credit kill <playername>" example: /credit kill Cia   After you type this, check the chat - u will see a line stating the credit has been set and to who. (if u do it twice, it removes the player from the credit kill)   Making sure your looter knows the difference between non-tradeable and tradeable loot. I have seen JE's loot smiter's wrath before, the crowds don't tend to appreciate that!   General Requirements for the raids: lvl140 (last shield) atleast lvl 8 guns. (Jenquais usually escape this requirement, in lieu to reactor buffs, foldspace, summon, jumpstart)    Every raid leader is different, ask if you are not sure, if you would be usefull or not. they will tell.   3.  Gear.   Like stated before you should have your last shield, to avoid being one shotted. Like it was stated before on the forums, if you need a jumpstart every 45 seconds, your more of a burden than an actual help to the raid.   Ivory Ward's all around. Everyone should have one of these lvl 7 deflect devices, or something equal or better. (deflects max at 72, if you have 72 across the board without an ivory ward, you don't need it.) Reactor Recharge Devices. All types, stack as many as you can. HullPatch/Shield Recharge items. Items that give buffs to the those skills. Guardian, Smugglers Recourse, Terran Advantage, ect ect.     Give your raiders plenty of time to buff up and swap their gear back to combat gear from buffing gear. Its popular to say "2min warning" this gives people ample time. After the 2minutes are up, just recheck in local/broadcast, and make sure everyone's ready.   4. Strategy/Leader   Let me start this section by saying this.   "If you are leading a raid, and that raid fails, it is 100% YOUR (the leaders) fault" "If you are in a raid, and that raid fails, it is 95% the leaders fault"   A good leader will cancell a raid if they cannot get enough people. A poor leader will say "it'll just take a little longer"   I have seen a certain jerk in the public channels, blaming the people that show up to his public raids for his raids being horrible, saying they are idiot clueless noobs. It shows how incompetent the leader is, if they engage in a raid that they are poorly equipped to run. (aka knows he doesn't have enough, but proceeds anyways) (7hr fishbowl raid...that raid did finish, however it was no where near a "successful raid".. lol)   Sorry for that - but it had to be said. -- Having a Decent leader is important, one that knows how the spawns spawn, the order to kill, the damage and ammo types to use, and which tactics work the best.   In a FB raid - we have a Jenquai person, who is dedicated to "folding bosses away".   This strat lets the groups kill the Trash Mobs, while not taking too much constant damage from the boss fish.   Each raid has a strategy. If your not sure, ask, people are very helpful in this game, compared to when it was ran by EA and everything was a guild secret. Try searching the forums for a good strat for the public raid you want to run.   It is not mandatory to have TeamSpeak - but it does help a lot, even if you can only listen. This works great for keeping the groups both well informed, and directed. As well, if someone needs an emergency heal!   Keeping your groups within a close range of each other is also very important. Area hullpatch and Area shield recharge effect all ships within a certin range. Having the groups close together allows for "Healing Overlap"   Before the raid starts - tell each group driver - what their task is. example: group 1 is on boss, group 2 is adds(trashmobs). This cuts down on confusion and lets the leader watch both groups at a glance to see if they are following directions.   --If you are hosting a public raid-- please try to represent the server. Be nice, honest, and considerate. Do not turn away people who meet your qualifications, because you don't like them.   Your raid is a OPEN raid NOT A PUBLIC raid if you bann anyone from attending. Public means everyone. If you single someone out, your not Hosting a raid for the public. Your hosting a raid for YOURSELF, and you need help completing it.   That's a HUGE difference than a PUBLIC raid.         5. Loot. Everyone loves loot, and the point of the Public raids is to "gear up" the public.   The Loot that drops should be carefully documented - and announced as it drops in broadcast/local/teamspeak. Every Raid leader may have different sets of rules regarding loot. If you have any questions, you need to ask before you join.   Some people will NOT allow alt rolling. (You can only win items for the toons you raided with, you are NOT allowed to loot with your alt that did not participate in the raid)   If you are a dualboxer - you should let your raid leader know, and be respectful and only /roll or X with 1 toon.   I have found, posting the items with % as they drop, lets people plan how they are going to /roll and makes for a smoother lotto. Also if you post items with %, make sure they are right. lol   I have seen 2 main ways people like to Random/Lotto off the loot.   First is the roll method. Everyone who is interested in the item, rolls a random number in local/broadcast, the one who rolls the highest number is the winner of the item. this uses the command line "/random 1 100 1"  which is /random <start #> <end #> <which channel to post it in>   (1 = Broadcast/Local)   Next is the X up method. An item gets posted in local and everyone who wants a shot at it will post an X in local/broadcaster.   Than someone will do /random using the number of people who X'd up. Example. 6 people X on an item. someone will do "/random 1 6 1" - if it rolls to #2 - than whoever the 2nd X belongs too, is the winner.     Write down all winners names with the item(s) they won. I have found people will hope you don't notice that they are Alt Rolling, or Rolling after having won something else. I recommend writing all the winners right onto the paper you put the grouping information on.     6. Thanks. It is important at the end for everyone to be thankfull to everyone else. The leader should thank all the raiders from coming, and the raiders should thank eachother and the leader for the event. Always give your thanks to the Looter as well.   The win is from everyone doing their task and working together for the common goal. everyone worked hard for that win, so everyone deserves a thanks when the raid is over. :)           I think if you have those 6 basic things, your raid will be successful! niceness goes a long way. Don't forget to be nice!!!       Cia
  16. As a miner mining in enb emulator, i would say that atleast 95% of the current hulks aviliable to be mined right now, DO NOT have manfacturable items, except for prototype ammo/comps. The other 5% of hulks that contain items, that can be manufactured, are camped constantly by the same 12-15 people. I'll list some sectors, that have hulks with manufacturable items inside them. I wont give away the exact location, as you know.... YOUR A EXPLORER TOON YOU SHOULD EXPLORE!!!!! Niff cloud, Lagarto, Glenn, Inverness, Moto, xipe, slayton, endriago. The hint to finding the HIGH LVL fields is to free warp all over the map, and look for several lvl 150 mining characters idling in space, with no hulks anywhere nearby. Those guys are camping those spawns, and the hulks rarely last more than 30 or 40 seconds after they spawn. Just write down the locations in your capitans log, and continue searching. And check back at those locations every now and than. I agree, that there should be more manticores nettles for everyone!!! Cia
  17. Kiting is my book was the ability to keep range agsint a mob, so that you could continue to do damage to it, while not falling within its attack range, unless you wanted to (see debuffing) Jenquai Kiting: Kiting on a jenquai was one of the more difficult tasks in the game, but it could be done. There were certin mobs that a Jenquai could kite without any fear. It required alot of actual player skill. You would need to be able to reverse kite, foldspace, and have a Coma device. Tatic: combat cloak, get within debuff range, attack, hit the plasma debuff, hit the coma, hit fold space. If you attacked the mob from behind you could shoot, debuff, and fold away before the mob turned around to attack you. (this applies to beam and pl using mobs) Than you would combat cloak, shoot at max range, reverse kite till when the mob was within its attack range and shooting you, than you'd fold out, combat cloak up, and repete. For warping mobs, follow the same procedure, except when you notice the mob entering warp (the warp tunnel graphic) you cancell your target, engage warp at the mob, and stop a little bit behind them. (mobs did not have the ability to cancell warp, so you could effectly get behind them very easily when they intiated warp.) Progen: Kiting on Progens was not really a nesscity as progens both PS and PW could tank almost everything. But alot of people did kite, for the main fact you could engage more mobs, as you didnt have to wait for your shields to recharge. Tatic: Find a mob you want to kill, hit it with grav link to pull/aggro it. As the mob starts coming towards you, you reverse away from it shooting it, the trick is to try and be faster in reverse than the mob going forward, that way you could stop every 10 or so seconds, and pick up combat trance(this applies for kiting pws). (for a PS you would reverse kite, than make a 90 degree turn, and hit menace (this would make the mob run away from you in a direction, not heading back to the spawn)) If you picked up multiple mobs on the pull, you would skip using grav link again, agsint your main target, and just grav link, the adds, so that it slowed them down. There was not a warp avoidance plan for the pw. usually you could just warp into the spawn and kill everything. But you had the option to kite, if you wanted. Terrans: Kiting on a terran was pretty easy. But at times requiered careful planning. Terrans were not the "win all button" as many poeple claim them to be. Terrans made up for their kiting, for having less than subpar reactors, and devices. Im sure if any of the people who ACTUALLY played in live remembers, it was very hard to keep juice in the reactor for very long. Tatics: Find your target, shoot missiles at them, fly away, wait for them to die. <~~~yes this is how live was and it was great. Before i end this, please note, that i have sucesfully played in live, a TE, TT, PS, PW, JE and JD. and i had alot of fun, testing their limits. I can has know what im talking about. Cia
  18. This new change introduced to the game is still very awful. I know people are adapting and such, but this is still a stupid change, and still no one has come up with a "reason" why this change was put in. This will now be known as "the great kite nerf of 2010" this update to mob AI is total and utter garbage. Its hard for me to type anything and not put in cuss words and other explictives when talking about this issue. Thanks for breaking something that was not broken. Cia
