  1. If you're looking for self sufficiency, then I would go with a JE. I'd say a majority of the players keep a JE around to use as a taxi. Terrans can run into energy problems on account of them having only L8 reactors, in this regard a JE will help as they can provide energy buffs and do shield sap if needed. You also need to think about the type of ammo you will be shooting and how you can debuff the mob, this starts to become important at mid and end stages of the game, as it will increase damage output of your group significantly. All explorers (JE/TS/PS) can do explosive debuffs, the Jenquai specialize in Plasma debuffing (a JE can do either explosive or plasma).
  2. A few suggestions for the Mission Log tab: 1) Sort the completed missions list either by completion date or alphabetical order. Maybe there's a sort order already, I just don't see what it is. 2) Perhaps the number prefixing on the mission names aren't needed. Right now, this is just preventing me from copying the mission names into a spreadsheet and alpha-sorting it myself that way. 3) Add the mission giver to the mission description. Would be useful if I've done a mission on one toon and want to do it on another one. 4) Add the completion date/time into the description. Thanks for the consideration.
  3. Looks like server's not coming up after the automated restart, been down over 30 minutes now.
  4. Doc, looks like you might be having a bad day and needed to vent some. I hope you're feeling a little better now and decide to stick with the game despite the bubblegum keeping it together. And if you don't, I wish you luck finding that perfect game with no bugs where the developers see everything from your point of view. I might also point out that this is a volunteer run emulator, the staff that run it also have "actual fucking big-boy jobs" that are not this game, their idea of relaxation is keeping this game together so that guys like me and you can enjoy it, so let's keep that in mind before we start slinging insults at them in the forums. I work in software development, I've been in both the developer and tester roles on large projects. I've read this thread and I see nothing but professional responses to your concerns. So if by your statement "I find the same attitudes I find at work" you meant to say that they act like professionals working on a multi million dollar project despite the fact that they are volunteers working with no budget, then yah, I totally agree with you and say keep up the good work guys. P.S. Sorry if this came off a little rude, I guess I needed to vent some too. Let's give some credit for the 99% of the things that are working correctly and let's enjoy what we have.
  5. If we have similar backouts in the future, could you also update the patch notes in the launcher? I've seen folks asking why deWinter is still there and about the new content every day for the past week.
  6. FYI, this thread was started by Builder's Inc, it represents BI's opinion. Just to make this clear, we're not proposing this to do more raids, if anything it's to release some triggers so those that are interested can use em. Anyway, here's a thought, how about dropping a couple of the less desirable raids from the rotation (RD and DT) for the summer, and leave those as FFA with the stipulation that any of the big 3 organizing those raids open it up to everyone that wants to join them by advertizing it in general chat at least an hour before the start time. Obviously participants need to have raid capable toons (OL140+). Guild organizing the raid can use their lotto rules or public's...from what I've seen, there are some differences, but everyone has a fair distribution system.
  7. That fixed it, thanks. I just didn't know where to look.
  8. I recently updated the Display Name on the forums, this changed my net-7 log-in name, I then had to use "account linking" to import all my toons to the new account name. This all worked fine, however, now my toon list on the left edge of net-7 and more importantly in the "Account Vault" tab is out of order, is there anyway to get this to display in alphabetical order again?
  9. This thread is referring to the 4 "rotation" raids: Troller/GoBB/RD Base/DT. As for the warder, speak up in broadcast if you see me there, I'll be happy to group up with you and we can camp it together.

I had a similar problem if you use the "Quote" function when replying to a thread. It's very difficult to read the quoted text.
  11. I didn't think the "Client already running" error message was still a problem. I believe there was a change in the launcher last year to grab a random port number instead of using a pre-chosen port list, I would have thought that would eliminate this error message the vast majority of the time.
  12. Awesome video, love the shading of the fish, it really feels like you're under water. Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFm246_46ao
  13. Ahh...another player scarred by Talesh :D I'm interested in finding out if you have any success with this skill, most people say it's not very effective, please let us know if you get any noticeable results with it.
  14. Anyone thinking of going down this route, make sure you do your Mark/Seal of the dragon mission from Jinx and probably the Nitrous Oxide Mission in Paramis before you start.  You can start the mark/seal mission when you reach 150, you need to have completed the 4 missions from Tzu at OMP, and you need good RD faction (I don't recall the exact number, +4K or +6K I think).
  15. Saw this link in a similar post, read through that and see if it helps: https://forum.enb-emulator.com/index.php?/topic/9469-how-to-get-into-the-game/   Usually when I get that error, I have the wrong ip address in the "Local IP" drop-down.
  16. I found this list a while back, not sure where I got it anymore: Slash Commands: Other Commands: Help -> Commands. Ingame. These commands do not show. Command ---------------- Arg/option-------------------------------------Effect /shieldwarnings -------------- 1|2|3|4 ------------off|25%|50%|75% - this changes when you hear the sound effect stating your shield percent. /packetopt ---------------------on|off---------------Changes your UDP packet size. On=a size of 1400. Off = the default size of 512 /random ----------------------(number) (number)---------- Randomly generates a number between the values specified. If used in a group, the number is visible to the group. /time ----------------------------(if none)---------------------------------Shows GMT time /time ---------------------------(+/- hours)(ex -4 for EDT) ----------- Current local military time /capitalize --------------------(letters such as JE,TT etc) ------------This will capitalize the last two letters on your name - note I don't believe there is a lowercase command or undo. /greactor---------------------(none)------------------------Shows % of reactor level of group members /greactormax --------------(none)---------------------Shows Capacity for group member's reactor /displaydps ----------------(none)--------------------Shows approx DPS for the next single weapon fired after the command. /away ----------------------(message)---------------Auto responds to tells with the message you typed. If not message is typed it responds with "<Your Name> is currently away. Try again later." Type /away again to turn it off. /afk ------------------------(message)--------------Same as /away  /delag ----------------number--------------------------  /delag 1 will suppress movement packets under lag conditions until packet queue is not exceeding a hard coded packet threshold anymore /delag 2 will change mobs shield update packets to a rate of 1/10th /delag 3 will change weapon animation packets to a rate of 1/10th /delag 4 will change "flying damage numbers" to a rate of 1/10th /delag 0 will turn off all delag switches. /delag 100 will turn on all delag switches.   All delag switches are individually combinable, so you can use (eg.) only /delag 1  and  /delag 4  in combination. You can also submit multiple switches like this: /delag 1 2 4 (space separated, will toggle these switches)   /rpon ---------------Turn on the Roleplay Channel  /rpoff ---------------Turn off Roleplay channel  /rp ---------------------(message) --------------- send message on the roleplay channel  /meetdevson --------------Turns the meetdevs channel on (coming soon)  /meetdevsoff---------------Turns the meetdevs channell off (coming soon)  /meetdevs -----------(message)-------------- Sends a message to the meetdevs channel when enabled.  Note - this channel is only on when a meet the devs session is in progress.  Additionally your message may be moderated and not show up unless the moderator allows it. /unstuck ----------(none)-------------------------------For use when stuck due to packet drops in a job or manu/analyze terminal. Note - you must click on a job before using this command at a job terminal.  This will not help if you have already lost your link to the server. /endtalk ----------------------(none)--------------------Removes you from stuck dialoge with a vendor or NPC /hidelogins ----------------(none)-----------------Toggles on or off the the announcements of who logs in and out. /hidedebris to turn on/off sector effects like "fog" etc /craft --------(number)---------- Crafts multiple stacks of currently selected build-able item
  17. Centuriata Way 2, or one of the nav's west of the station towards the gate.   If  you get stuck like this again, feel free to ask in new player chat, usually someone will speak up right away for this kind of problem.
  18. Hey Mattsacre, I get what you're saying here, it's just not worth the hassle for you.  I just want to clear up a couple things from your post.  You may be mixing up the time spawned triggers (which are in the rotation) with the non time spawned triggers (i.e. Gate Raid/Fish Bowl) where someone has to build a device to trigger the raid.  As far as I know, in the time spawned raids (RD Base/Troller/GoBB/DT) items don't get reserved, if you show up for the public raid, you are welcome to roll on anything that drops.  From what I've seen, the public organizers are generally very welcoming and will be happy to have you participate.  As for the big 3, I can only speak for my guild, but if we make a call in general chat for more participants to join us, the folks that show up are welcome to roll on anything that drops.   In the raids that require a built trigger (and can be done at anytime) it is customary for the person that went through the effort of building that trigger to reserve an item.  One of those triggers represents many many hours of work, the parts for them are very hard to find, you either get lucky, or you put in serious grinding time.  Personally I don't hold a reasonable "reserve" against the raid organizers, if someone puts in let's say 6 to 10 hours to gather all the parts for a trigger, I think it's reasonable that they get to put 1 item on reserve.
  19. The big 3 are just as guilty of letting triggers sit around for days during the week on the less popular raids too (RD & Genril in particular), I speak from experience on this, so what you're seeing is not unique to the public Gunney.  Yah, i'd call those wasted triggers.   I'd love to see a "use it or lose it" clause in the agreement, if your guild/group isn't able to take the trigger down within 24 hours, give the rest of the server a shot to take it down for you (or better yet work with the rest of the server to get it done).  If something like that were in place, today at 6PM, you could have opened up the raid to all players (public, BI, Static, VGE), everyone that participated would be free to roll on the loot and I bet the raid would have gotten done.
  20. Try looking about 30K south of "Nav Mercury 3".  If you need more help finding a specific location, it's best to ask in the "New Player" channel in game, usually someone will be able to help you find what you're looking for.
  21. It's still kicking bud.  Welcome to the game, the community isn't huge, most times you'll see 100-200 toons logged in, but it's a very welcoming community of players.  The staff are volunteers and do this because they love the game, so I wouldn't worry about another sunset anytime soon.
  22. There is a "Local IP:" list box on the launcher, if you have more then one IP address listed in there, try the others.
  23. yes, I think that's the one I use and it works for me.
  24. If you got "windows xp" in that compatibility mode drop-down use it (or whatever the oldest version of windows in that list is for you).  This game was originally designed to run on windows xp (back in 2003), so you want a compatibility mode that is as close to that as you can find.
  25. Actually it would be the reason why in the past you could only find them shortly after a restart.  Prior to the last patch, aa's could spawn in un-minable areas (i.e. TT's home sector), so if there is a set number of aa's, the ones in public areas are picked up, but the next one could spawn in public or non-public area...eventually they all end up in the non-public areas because those are never picked up.
