  1. Playability is an issue. The server should be restarted.
  2. Something on the menu of this site, and the Portal might also be a good idea, if you are trying to enlist help.
  3. So no thoughts on making this slash command persistent? I know I'm not alone for this feature request. Especially with gate crashes from lag.
  4. Indeed, I had a similar thought regarding the lower level versions, such as the 20's in Akeron's, ABB, maybe Put some in Endriago as well...   It would be interesting to see where a repositories could be placed, maybe create some genetic research vessels for the game. I don't see that as difficult, and would even be willing to design some new 3D models for stuff like this. Perhaps something along the lines of a generalized research vessel that does what many scientists do today, in cataloging the mobs as well as other races throughout the game. This way, you wouldn't be required to have a Progen base of operations outside of Progen Space.   Great ideas here guys, keep em coming. :)
  5. Gene Hunters.... Nuff said.... Right?  The name invokes a feeling of an evil little mob with a very bad temprament...   So why do they not make any raids on "the/or a" genetic repository in progen space??   This was the idea we were brainstorming about in guild chat the other night, as an idea for a raid/mini raid. Drops could include something along the lines of a new energy beam (Soul Fire 9 perhaps?), new deflect devices. This seemed like a logical progression for Gene Hunter's of every flavor (Strand Vultures, etc...) to stage raids on these progen facilities. It could be the task of the playerbase to defend the repositories. Their goal could be to destroy or transport genetic material locked within, thus using various means to acquire gene maps. Maybe late in the raid, they also start dropping the gene maps if the repositories shields fail from the assult.   Thanks for reading....   -Overt.
  6. I concur completely with Zack's last comment. So much so, that standard operating procedure for myself and select clients, I uninstall Internet Exploder completely from the Windows features area, of the Programs and Features section of the Winblows Control Panel. The IE renderer remains intact, so no issues with 7 after the fact. IE 10 and 11 had endless problems updating, or getting the updates to actually take, along with their lack of following web standards like W3, along with others. This is something I really wish (as a Sysadmin) Micro$oft's I.E. dev team would actually address. What's odd is they claim to actually listen to customer feedback and for input from the "test labs" they setup, for average Joe users.   I choose to use Firefox. Oooooodles and Ton's of plugins like Ad Block Plus, plus it plays real nice with Kaspersky Internet Security + Malwarebytes. And the customization (my Win7 environment is completely custom) options are practically endless. Google Chrome for web testing as well, though I don't use it for my regular browser.
  7. Okay, after trying to give this tweak the "Collage try," I am wondering if there is a way to make this tweak permanent? Maybe in the way the chat channel slash commands make the newer chat channels go away for good (Character DB setting).   I frequently have to run several toons at once, and having to exit and re-enter the sector with all of them, say for a fish bowl, GoBB, or just hunting in Paramis, often results in a lot of crashing and relogging. And this isn't something some of us want to be enabled at all. Killing it helped a ton with lag issues.   Thanks again for this tweak! It's a nice option to have. :)
  8.   I concur completely. There are only a very few players that actually want PvP, and suggesting another wipe would not only be an EMU killer, it would mean that Kyp would be going against his promise not to do another. It would be a better use of everyone's time to squash bugs, build in more features that aren't in game, and work on some much needed content. There are a crap load of things that need attention long before PvP should even be considered for development.    The storyline also needs a fast forward IMO. This is dragging out to the point that many people have moving on to other games, because of the lack of anything new to do.
  9. Thanks again Zack! And Zohawn had it right. :)   I have yet to see what my FPS is like in there. Like Daath, everyone's should now be greatly improved by this fix. :)   Thanks again!   -Overt.
  10. Hi again,   While we are on the topic of buff annoyances, hows about we mention the buffs that flood a player or players when one either de-cloaks,  or enters a sector. The volume practically blasts you out of the room (and I keep my audio low), and you get a display of every character's applied buffs every time one appears in the above conditions.   This might also help with lag in the raids and generally, as well as cure a long time annoyance of many players. I think I may have mentioned this one before at some point, but I can't seem to find the post, so here we are again.   Thanks for your time and consideration. :)   -Overt.
  11. Multiple monitors work well for me. :)
  12. Rename the sizzle.bik file to sizzle.bak or something else. The eb_ws_logo.bik can also be renamed.   You can find both in the \Ea Games\Earth & Beyond\Data\Client\Mixfiles folder, right at the top of the list.   -Overt.
  13.   Yes indeed, I'm a lucky guy to have a wife who is also a gamer. She is usually on the Xbox 360 playing Mass Effect, but I think she has played all of the paths through that game, and probable most of not all of the storyline "forks." Its an interesting game to say the least. She does play EnB periodically, but usually on one of my characters mining or something mellow. I very seldom catch any flack for being on my puter most of the day. I also work from the same spot I game. :)   -Overt.
  14. This game wasn't really designed with that in mind beyond the Arena's, and I tend to agree on the trash talking issues that would follow. There is already more than enough drama to go around without something like this to stir the pot. Maybe in select systems, like maybe the Arena's and perhaps the more lawless sectors like BBW/Pirate Space. But globally its probably a bad idea as it will likely create more problems than its worth.   -Overt.
  15. Guys, this is actually done in a much easier manner than you realize. Certain "components" of networking appliances and equipment actually already have the back doors built in (courtesy of Cisco and other network hardware companies build this functionality in their hardware). All they have to do is use a facility like the newest version, built no less than a 30 minute drive from my house. The Feds use these data centers to collect and process HUGE amounts of data, then query against it for what they need. So while many people have the tinfoil hats already on before I posted. But it may make many more go grab the roll from the kitchen, when they find out that this has been happening for well over a decade now (Pre-911). The only real difference now is that storage capacity has become very cheap, and has increased exponentially along with Moore's Law, and the tools for searching the data they collect have become more sophisticated and advanced.   Games are simply another form of human socialization that the Fed's monitor. While something as small as this emulator is still likely stashed on some nameless server someplace, I'd be willing to bet we have little to worry about. Internet anonymity has been dead and buried a long time ago. Its just taken the public this long to figure this out.   I am not saying what they (Fed's/NSA) are doing is right. In fact as a Systems Admin, I happen to believe quite the contrary. But the only thing we as a public can do about this is to push the politicians to put controls on the NSA via new laws, governing the scope of their data collection. Until this happens, they will likely continue to collect whatever data they wish. This was the topic of a local news story recently (with that datacenter in our backyard, we see stories about this regularly) that even the "experts" at the local University, tend to agree with. But until something is taken on in a legal sense, little can be done to curtail these activities.   One crack in the design I suspect they will discover, is that collecting data in the manner that they do, requires a blank paycheck and huge amount of resources. Something that won't likely stay the same with the world economy in the condition it is today.   Sorry for the long post. :)   -Overt.
  16. So perhaps a new setting in the effect.ini or something that we may tweak by slash command?? Other thoughts??
  17. AS I said in my post, you will hear from us when and the folks in VonCorp when we are each ready to discuss it. Until then, I agree 110% with Alurra's comments that its up to the guild leadership to discuss these matters. Please do not start any drama here, there is no need for it. Bleak & Zo, If you have additional issues you want discussed, talk to one of us. We will discuss all of our perspectives when the time is right with the leadership of the big 3, and we will see what happens then.   Thanks!   -Overt.
  18. Nothing is final until the leadership of ALL of the "Big 3" have all agreed on any changes to the rotation. Nothing can be approved until this happens. We are currently mulling our decision (Static). We also have not heard VGE's opinion on this matter as last I heard, they too were discussing this issue.   There are still discussions taking place on this issue from the other 2 of the big 3. To assume you are already in the schedule at this point, is premature, and who ever told you that you were, had no authority to do so. We will be in touch soon with our decision, and we look forward to hearing from our friends in VonCorp regarding this issue.   Thank you.   -Overt.
  19. You're my friend now? Lord help me!! :)
  20. Not a huge deal Darrk, its the way they are rendered by the engine on my GF590 on these big monitors. More distracting than anything as I spend a lot of time there. If they looked a bit more like the mining gasses (though not so dense), it would be a different matter as they'd be a bit more realistic. I have the sector lists from my dev days here, I'll figure it out from here on my end. I looked in there once before, but didn't think to knock out that debris setting as I wasn't sure what that exactly meant. (Didn't think that the setting was for the nebula itself.)   Thanks a ton for the info man! Greatly appreciated! I'll tweak it from here. :)   -Overt.
  21. Hi,   I spoke with someone a while ago about getting a command in somewhere to turn off the silly nebula effect that was turned on a few months back. At best, It's quite annoying. They had said that Darkk was the dude who added it to game, and that they were going to check in to see in getting it added to the effects.ini file. Now that he appears to be inactive, will someone take the time to add this option?   Thanks!
  22.   Yep, I can confirm Jamoos's post. Not seen GoBB here since Sunday. We would greatly appreciate a dev or someone to look into this for us.   Thanks!   -Overt.
  23. How aboot a "Sticky Buffs" device. Remember the bug back in ST4 that allowed players to keep buffs until logout/crash? A device that would do this would be very cool.   1. If a player has it, perhaps have the buffs applied by that player to others also be applied sticky. 2. Make the timeout 1 day or something insanely long as well. 3. Device would last 1 month on the player, and maybe need not be equipped, merely owned. (description could read something like electromagnetic field produced by this device is insanely powerful.)
  24. I've always liked this idea. "Turn the Servant of Edward Teach" into an "Old Boonie" type of thing. Ultimately, this would be the best way to go IMO. But until we see it, we plan accordingly. :)   -Overt.
