I guess I'm curious if I'm the only one. I used to play this game back in the Before Time. But I didn't pay quite as much attention as I do now. And I've started to notice things.
I was sitting in Somerled. And it started to occur to me that the light was different each time I made a trade run. So I parked and watched the sun. And damned if it wasn't moving. Very slowly, probably inaccurately, but slowly enough to not scream at you that it was happening. But it was moving, meaning that this planetary system was literally orbiting a star. And you could watch it. It wasn't just a background sprite.
The designers put touches into the details of space that just make this game extra enjoyable. I've watched the moons of Jupiter eclipse the sun; possibly the closest I will ever come to seeing an actual solar eclipse.
The atmosphere of Jupiter moves. In alternating bands. In opposite directions. Just like the real Jupiter. You just have to sit and watch.
It's so subtle, and you almost never spot it because you are off doing this or that to "play" the game. But I think what makes Earth And Beyond so lovable, so memorable and addictive (besides the players, of course; we have a great community) is the little details that are buried into the environment of the game.
I play a space-based game for a reason. And E&B, to this day, has always given me the richest "space" experience that I have ever had.
Just ramblin'. Please pardon me.
