[/quote] I suppose one way would be to get rid of some superfluous things like missile trails, engine trails, maybe even change the animation of large projectiles, especially from mobs. It would not be as pretty but it would help overload.

Ahh but then there is Texas v Johnson which says Free Speech guards even offensive speech or actions. Again, the server does not qualify for protections under the constitution but I did not want you to go on thinking that all of those are really all restritions. It is very subjective but we tend to err on the side of freedom.

[/quote] So what would be wrong with an optional chat filter? That way people can turn it on or off to suit their needs. If it has to be one way or the other I of course prefer unfiltered but I don't see having a choice being so bad.

I can fight my own battles. My point is some of us don't hold the same values that you do. I come from an enviroment where cussing means nothing. Sometimes, especially if I am tired, my brain check doesn't catch stuff like that. I never said it was acceptable to just spam cuss words. At the same time I don't think we need be so puritanical that someone typing the occasional cuss word, especially when not in an offensive manner, needs to be a huge deal. And yes a freedom of speech argument is flawed which is why I did not bring that up so don't throw that at me. I am getting my PhD in Political Science so I do know law fairly well heh. My point is not to make a legal argument but an argument appealed to reason that would allow leniency with the EULA. Surely you can see my point without having to go with some straw man argument.

I will go ahead and lay out a bit of additional stuff here. Why not just have an optional word filter on the chat? I doubt it is hard to do and those that don't care can have it off and those whose delicate sensibilities are wrecked by these terrible four letter words can be protected from such filth. Then if someone is deliberatly going around the word filter you can ban hammer them. Then everyone wins \o/. Well, except the guy who got ban hammered, but that is his problem.

Maybe that is how you do things but I touch type at about 60 wpm and don't even think sometimes about typing a cuss word. IMO if it isn't directed in an offensive manner towards someone it isn't that big of a deal. If it really offends you that bad when it isn't someone directly insulting you then you really need to thicken your skin up. I don't see how you go day to day IRL interacting with people.

I would say the belts seem too sparse right now. I do a lot of my mining out at Swooping Eagle currently. I was a PS miner back in beta out in Antares I think mostly and I also got out into Deneb way back when you had to fly to it with no points and they were beautiful and decked out in all kinds of stuff. Now they look barren and desolate and not worth the trouble of going to. Just my .02
