  1. forgive me for not having enough time to read through this thread, but we had a problem with cloak->fire->cloak being overpowered a while back. When that happened we made some changes so instead of taking no damage if they were hit while recloaking, they took half damage. It could be that these changes rolled back somehow or that we didn't take into account the effect of Improve Cloaking devices on the cloak->fire->cloak tactic because they probably weren't around at that time. It's something that we could look into.
  2. There's plenty of new content coming even though it's been slow lately. Surely another thing on your mind is the donation cap and how we haven't quite reached it this month. Donation cap will become less of a concern in the next few months because we switched to less expensive servers. I'll see if I can get a finances update so we can see how close we are to a comfortable margin then we can begin decreasing the donation cap. Population decline is a self-fulfilling prophecy because if you think the population is declining you'll be less likely to play. Content has been a little light lately and thank you for bringing that up. Part of that is due to behind the scenes work, also the delayed content update and people's busy schedules. Just remember that a great way to help the emulator succeed is to believe it is succeeding rather than to think it is declining. I think it's succeeding because I can see all the work that developers AND players are putting into it. The future is bright and I'm not worried about a population dip. P.S. another way to help the emulator succeed is to make more bug reports and practical suggestions.
  3. if/when we add these things we want them to be complete. Sure we could throw a bunch of vrix models in there but they wouldn't scan you, they wouldn't say random junk, they can't use that mirror skill. We'd have to go through a bunch of talk trees to work them into the storyline, add missions and move objects (add the eye of god and such). We'd have to set all their drops and mob information and add their spawn points and they wouldn't patrol around like they used to. Not that we'd add the vrix anyway since they are a myth. a bunch of little things are needed for ardus and DT as well. Ardus had special types of ore fields and a special way of entry. DT had roadkill, raids, developed NPC talk trees, missions and special things like turning in those casings to get the components for a sunfocus 2000 and the other new weapons. many of these little details we can reconstruct already though they will take time. We're not trying to add broken content then slowly fine tune it into the EnB we know and love. When we release things we want them to be polished and ready to fit in to the rest of the universe. As for the idea of putting storyline things in to fix them then take them out, that reveals the storyline we are going to follow. Also players don't like having things taken away from them. We can also do the majority of this testing/fixing on the development server.

  5. are those the fishbowl shadows that you were referring to? are we sure they aren't just other objects from a distance?
  6. PW: when you take a ton of damage in a small amount of time you charge a giant laser blast. Does some damage to player as well. Long cooldown JD: summons and uses fold space at the same time then decreases the enemy's fire rate, allowing you to pull a mob away from its friends and cripple it. When the mob resists, they summon the player. JS: just make reactor optimization the 135 and give them some other skill earlier on. reactor optimization skill is pretty awful at the low levels. Maybe we could have them make drones as was suggested before. TE: Missile Ram Skill. Fly at slightly behind the missile travel speed towards the target as if on autofollow. As you travel toward the mob you will continue firing missiles and they will stack on top of each other (one of my favorite things to do as terran), hitting the target at the same time. This skill cannot be cancelled. A small damage bonus will be applied which gets increased depending on how far away from the mob you start the skill. Can be very dangerous for the player to use. TT: Analysis. Tells you the mob's resists.

  9. net-7.org is acting weird for me too. Maybe since accounts are linked to the play server now it's freaking out when the play server's down.
  10. donation tracker seems to be busted again. I see several donations have come in the past two days but the total donated amount still appears to be $0
  11. storyline content in live was usually related to the maelstroms or the vrix and since those don't exist in the emu, we can't recreate those missions. The emu storyline is set to the spot right after the Gate War which is kind of this awkward period of very few things going on. The races are expanding with development of sectors like Kailaasa, Antares, Roc, the castor system, the proxima centauri system and the altair system. Part of the storyline limbo is due to our storyline NPCs saying conflicting things, some mention things that haven't happened yet. As a development team we need to spend more time on getting our main NPCs up to speed on the current events. We also need to add storyline missions and give NPCs more personality. Storyline is one of those things we want to slowly work into the game but haven't really sat down and worked on yet. It's difficult because we don't remember a lot of storyline before the vrix came. We kind of have to improvise and I don't think we're on the same page yet. It's something to keep in mind but it gets trumped by things like broken hull upgrades, missing items and empty/boring sectors.
  12. what level are your JD and JE? My JE with level 3 shields was able to get the shield just fine in other news I totally spaced on how the TS only gets level 8 shields. Oops...
  13. In celebration of the holiday, nommos will now use befriend and heart shields are available starting at zona mason in net-7 for a limited time only. Post here if theres any problems with the heart shield missions or the graphic effect.
  14. it'd be a bit overpowered on a JD, which is why it's JE and JS only. It was intended to help out the JE and JS because they struggle with high level mob combat.

  16. or I could just stalk this topic from afar... and the JS primarily needs an attack skill to make combat more interesting and maybe change reactor optimization to actually be worth it at the lower levels. some equipment primarily for the JS is in development I also plan on switching out projectile weapon skill for missile weapon skill because I feel it would be more useful/I want to make a jenquai missile launcher that isn't awful as far as TS improvements so they're more effective in raids, maybe a skill that causes a mob to miss the TS at a high rate, giving it a little bit more durability when it needs to jumpstart someone? We have to keep in mind there's only a few slots for skills so if we made a new TS skill we might have to remove one of the others
  17. loot tables are somewhat similar to live but a lot different skills are nearly identical to live except a few problems that we're trying to fix and the new skills mobs look the same for the most part but their AI is different and is worked on frequently about 5-10 new sectors mostly in Sol and the new classes' systems everything was basically recreated from screenshots and our memories. We had to rewrite most missions and most talk trees. all server staff are unpaid volunteers and are mostly ex-players the storyline is set around what the story was as live began which is shortly after the end of the gate war. this means no "unknown", no maelstroms, no ardus sector and no der todesengel sector.

The phoenix and coma devices weren't working for a long time but they have been fixed recently so along that line, are there any other item effects (activated, instant or equip) that aren't working properly at the moment? I've heard rumors that Improve Critical Targetting isn't working for classes that don't have the Critical Targetting Skill, same thing with hull damage control. Here's my list: - Improve Critical Targetting (for non warriors/non progen) - Hull Damage Control (for non warriors) Please add to my list and I'll be sure to post them to the bug tracker so they are brought to the entire dev team's attention.
