1. In my case, yes it was selected by default. I will be doing a fresh install later today on another win7 pc so i will verify whether the box is checked by default on that one as well. Update: Did the install on the second PC and the Local Cert box was NOT checked by default.
2. Ok so for anyone else experiencing this issue, apparently the fix is to uncheck "local cert" in the launcher.
3. Hi all, just did a fresh install of the game after being away for a couple of years and cannot get past this error at login. Any suggestions? Windows 7 x64 (all executables running as administrator) I did run enbconfig before starting the game and it finished successfully. The full error message is "EA.com is temporarily unavailable. This may be due to routine server maintenance or other network issues. Please try again later (inv-301)" This makes me think it may be related to the net7 proxy?
4. Beta tested the original game and played until sunset on Galileo.   Been here since the day we could first log in and enter our ships. You could leave the station but couldn't go anywhere. Didn't care tho, as it was still a major thrill just to be back in the cockpit   =)   Been gone for about a year now due to my job demands but hoping to get back in and see what's new!
5. I disagree. It's not an "interesting way of thinking about 9/11", it's a sad, overused pile of conspiracy-theory drek. I'm really sick of hearing people say "the gubmint done it". Given the sheer number of people needed to pull off what would have been the largest conspiracy in the history of the planet, and human nature being what it is, there is no way on this green Earth that the secret would have been kept. He saw the title of the thread, he didn't have to click in if it was too upsetting. ...and by the way it's SUPPOSED to be upsetting to remember a tragedy like this one was. It shows we're still human. And that some of us won't forget. <storms off muttering with well-worn soapbox under arm>
6. Is it me or is there some confusion about what "cherry-picking" actually means? It does NOT mean taking a few roids/hulks and leaving the rest of the field. It means pulling one or more items from a single roid/hulk and leaving the rest in that particular roid/hulk, causing it to not respawn.
7. I was in Sarasota Florida, same as President Bush. I remember the Sheriff's Deputies closing all the roads between Booker Elementary and the airport. Watching Air Force 1 rise into the sky i remember thinking "Oh my god, my little brother and his wife and kids are on a plane to New York right now"! After a couple of hours of frantic calls and seemingly endless waiting, we heard that they were safe on the ground. The apprehension and fear for our loved ones was a terrible experience but we got lucky compared to a lot of families. God Bless America.
8. Ugh, another junkquai lovefest... (starts making ammo for the party)
9. A friend of mine had this same problem on win7 x64. The way we fixed it was by first going to the windows firewall and restoring the default settings. We then added launchnet7.exe to the exception list as well as enb.exe and enbconfig.exe After reboot, he was able to launch and update with no problem. May be worth looking at. Note: We also set all those files to run as admin (for all users) in the compatibility settings dialog box.
10. Seems like poprock-spawned mobs might be a good way to implement Tienbau's suggestion, at least as far as lev 8/9 roids. If a lev 8/9 poprock spawned, say, a lev 55 mob, there would be a good chance that the miner is gonna die if he's too low-lev but also a slight chance to get away. This would provide that "living on the edge" feeling without the certainty of death/ item quality damage that comes from a lethal explosion. Also, and yes this is nit-picky, but ever since Kyp mentioned the "next phase" a few folks have asked "so we're almost to Alpha?" Alpha does not come after Beta, Alpha was ST1 and 2. The next phase is traditionally called "Gold", defined (by some) as "80-90% ready to play, with only minor technical/database issues remaining. Generally the last step before a finished release product." I'm sure Kyp knows a lot more about stages of game development than I do so if i have stated this incorrectly, please feel free to correct me.
11.
Don't worry buddy, until you got cash for ammo I'd lend you a few of my wimpy Jenpie beams.
Blasphemer!! Where's my pitchfork?!?
12. Unfortunately you understand correctly. You cannot call forward Shield, Engine, or Reactor points.
13. "Posted by Yuritau 03 August 2011 - 03:30 AM Best possible penalty for forfeiting jobs, imho, is a 60 minute cooldown on that job slot. Forfeit one job.. can only take 5 for the next hour. Forfeit 3 jobs, can only take 3 for the next hour. Also, have each job slot individually timed." The problem with this is that if you take 6 jobs, then crash to desktop at the first gate you come to, you're stuck waiting for the cooldown before you can take more jobs. Plus I have found that taking a full complement of jobs seems to be the best way of getting the game to crash. I can play all day, swapping toons willy-nilly with no problem but take 6 jobs and try to gate... BOOM, hello desktop. Maybe that's just my experience, but the result is the same.
