So, in effect, you're saying, I'm the boss, I'm gonna do it my way and if you don't like it, there's the door. Kind of reminds me of someone... initials EA
Your not getting the whole point that he was saying. Lets view it this way, only the minority wants the database open. There really is not a reason to have it open, when it was open it was for testing purposes only. Think of it as a Live MMO, they wont provide all the information that the game holds because if you knew everything the game holds it wouldnt be fun anymore. Were would the mystery be? You still have not answered my previous questions: 1)Why would you want the entire drop database handed to you? 2)How Long would you seriously play if it was just given to you? 3)Do you not think it would make the game boring within a few weeks or months down the road to know everything? I challenge you to answer them, and honestly tell me it is worth it to have the information handed to you.
Well, [s]they actually did provide the information in the first place[/s] - it's their game. A player is merely transferring that information in the same way an ant moves eggs around its nest. So whether a game's creator provided the actual drop info is trivial, because hosting a wiki is for all intents and purposes the same thing as a drop database.
You did it again my friend. Burned yourself. First change i did is self evident. They did not provide nor hand out the information as in what MOB drops what. Next is a Player gained the information, through hard work, it was not handed to him/her from the creators. Now here is the kicker, you reinforced what Kyp and I said, It was not given to the player, the player found the information whether by making a program to access the database or finding the MOB that dropped it. Try again.
Ok, for eve here are 2 player developed apps that do access the live database.
Exactly, Player Developed. Im sure someone out there could make a program to access the database, but that just re-enforces what Kyp and I have said, everything is not handed to the player, the player develops the tools and researches to gain the information not the other way around. Again I have to point you to my questions: 1)Why would you want the entire drop database handed to you? 2)How Long would you seriously play if it was just given to you? 3)Do you not think it would make the game boring within a few weeks or months down the road to know everything?
So hosting a wiki it is not providing a database? What an upside-down world we live in Maniac you are only making it worse for yourself, so keep talking
Your already burning yourself yet again, already pointed out to you and guess have to again, They may have endorsed it however they did not provide the information, a player provided it, not the company. Try again.
It says: Guild Wars Wiki is the official English language wiki for Guild Wars. It is hosted by ArenaNet for the Guild Wars community to be managed and shaped by the community.
Sorry but you burned yourself here, Its managed by the community not the game designers. My statement stands, No Creators provide a Database, its gathered and run by players.

Couple of Questions I have to ask: 1)Why would you want the entire drop database handed to you? 2)How Long would you seriously play if it was just given to you? 3)Do you not think it would make the game boring within a few weeks or months down the road to know everything? Legitimate questions you have to ask yourself. I personally do not play a game that everything is handed to me, makes it boring in the long run, and takes all the mystery out of the hunt.
Does a wiki run by the game's creators count? Then guild wars wiki... As for the emulator loot locations : gfg. Not only is it good for explorer fetishists that loot locations are being kept under wraps, but it would be more so if they were somewhat shuffled from time to time. This is to keep things interesting as well as make loot databases difficult to set up.
I Laughed at this, sorry but IMO Guild Wars is not a real MMO, Its just rigged to give the feel of one. Anyway Wiki's are not run by said company, no matter what the label, it is run by someone that gathered the data from other players that have found the items and drops. Same as any 3rd party database.
  7.
Yeah. it just looks kinda silly some of them swerve like crazy. Like its guidence system is messed up. Maybe they could be sped up some? Its not a major deal but you think a rocket propelled missle would get to its target faster than a projectile fired from a cannon.
Not necessarily, think of how fast a projectile actually comes out of a real gun. 200, 300 miles an hour? A missile or rocket in real life actually dont go that fast at first. However I would love to see the "missile/rockets" get a bigger profile, unlike most of them in game. What I mean is could the size of the missile graphics be bigger? They look too small IMO and ya loose them after they get fired, have to squint to actually see them.
ok, how about making the db available for download and outside developement?
I seriously do not know why anyone would provide this, as Kyp has said no MMO that i know of provides its drop locations, why should the EMU provide it? At least they show that an item is in game and that it would drop unlike a normal MMO out there. Also as Kyp said it does make the game too easy, I personally, and im sure others do as well, love trying to figure out what drops what, its boring otherwise and IMO to easy. If you want information on were something drops, ask someone, simple as that. More than likely someone will know were you can get said item or drop that has taken time to find it. There are resources out there to find a drop also, may not be 100% accurate, but they do point you in the right direction. Otherwise Look for yourself, thats all part of the gaming experience.
  9. Lol figured it would be better combined
  10. I Was Lucky enough to recover this before the web site went down and im sure others would like to have this. Its a Java based Map that was previously linked in the forums. It shows drop info and other neat tidbits, someone worked on this hard and I feel i cannot let it die. Warning though, it is a bit outdated but has not failed me yet. So here it is. Drag enb_javascript_map.php to web browser and enjoy.
  11. Fixed and combined the files. If you want Old .ini Pull from "Old" folder. Just unzip and enjoy.
  12. ya the link to the updated file dont work sadly.
  13. Guild Member had to "camp" the spot for like 4-5 days to get theirs, I imagine that's marked as extremely rare.
  14. I say Give Lannister Another Run, IMO he has done a great job. He has given us very good updates and is very clear and well written. Lannister has my Vote.
  15.
It's (usually) easy enough to avoid clicking your character, clicking "Delete Character", and then confirming the decision while your character pleads for his/her life.
I Love that when they do that! I sometime just make a newbie character just to see them squirm when i press the delete button. Makes me laugh every time.

    200% Ores
I'm pretty sure that most people that mine these ores, do so because either they need them, or a guildmate/friend needs them. The dozen or so other ore types you collect while mining those, however, no one wants to pay for, hence, so they pile up or get vendored. A market where a select few resources are in demand, and every other resource is mostly ignored, is a prime example of a bad market.
This is true however I would much rather not have to mine them myself and buy them, thus its were the market is right now. What I was pointing out is those that cry about not selling anything should look into mining the ones that are in demand, isnt that the point of the concept supply and demand? Those I listed are only a few of the ores that should be mined and sold on the market, and im sure you can make alot of credits just mining those alone. All im saying is there is a major market for ammo ores. There are others that you might also consider, those that make brimstone Comps, Those are L9 refined ores that would also be a good market. There are ways around this slump, true alot of miners work for thier perspective guild, however what about those outside a guild? There are lots of Ore out there thats worth a lot of credits, just takes alittle research is all.

    200% Ores

All ammo you build comes out automatically at 200% no matter what quality the comps.
  18. Murdered

    200% Ores

I actually dont like this idea, there were a few good pointers like 200% refined ore could produce 2 comps instead of one, but I think you are forgetting something. Ok so you can make extra comps with 200% refined ore, But what about those comps that dont use refined ore? Ammo Comps use raw ore not refined and this actually wouldn't help anyone build extra comps from this ore. On top of that I have seen calls for ammo ore on the market that I currently need but no one seems to provide that ore, all they do i whine about how they cant sell the other ore that can be easily pulled from vendor comps. Personally I dont think the need for this kind of change is required, rather people are trying to sell of the wrong type of ore or mining the wrong ones, and not looking at what ore is actually needed most. Here is a sample of ore that should be "Sold" in the market place that there is a big demand for. Raw Eye Stone L7 Horusium Ore L7 Stygian Blackwater L6 Discordite L6 Apollonite L7 And that is just a sample, I dont think the market is bad for ores, I think the miners that want to sell ore just are not selling the right type of ores that are actually in demand.
  19. Very true, I do source most my ore needs from in guild as well as rip comps when its needed, however there are times that just minning is what i have to do to get what I need. Here are a few ores that are needed by me and will gladly pay you for: Name: Raw Eye Stone L7 Horusium Ore L7 Stygian Blackwater L6 Discordite L6 Apollonite L7 Send me a Tell when ya get a stack or two of one of these.
  20. Let it hang, I let mine hang about 10 min or so and got in....but there is something going on.
  21. Server having issues yet again..... Put this in another thread but might as well put it in this one too. Just hangs after selecting a character. I Finnaly got a toon in after like 10 min hang at load screen. This is what Im getting with Both Computers: 14/03/11 20:14:32 MVAS thread running 14/03/11 20:14:32 Received Master login confirm, new UDP port is 3674 Avatar_id = 1073790735 14/03/11 20:14:32 <server> Master Login received - UDP sector port: 3674 14/03/11 20:14:32 >> Commence Login check. 14/03/11 20:14:32 Sending Login packet - connection active 14/03/11 20:17:04 MVAS thread running 14/03/11 20:17:04 Received Master login confirm, new UDP port is 3674 Avatar_id = 1073790735 14/03/11 20:17:04 <server> Master Login received - UDP sector port: 3674 14/03/11 20:17:04 >> Commence Login check. 14/03/11 20:17:04 Sending Login packet - connection active 14/03/11 20:23:07 >> Intermediate Login check failed, re-issue sector login. Is there something going on?
  22. Im getting this now as we speak, I get locked at the loading screen after i pick a character and it just hangs. Here is what I get on both my computers: 14/03/11 20:14:32 MVAS thread running 14/03/11 20:14:32 Received Master login confirm, new UDP port is 3674 Avatar_id = 1073790735 14/03/11 20:14:32 <server> Master Login received - UDP sector port: 3674 14/03/11 20:14:32 >> Commence Login check. 14/03/11 20:14:32 Sending Login packet - connection active 14/03/11 20:23:07 >> Intermediate Login check failed, re-issue sector login. Seems it has to do with the login server again?
  23. Hmm wont checking both cause conflicts?
  24. I would love to see this happen but again I ask is this Client side or Server side data change? The main reason I ask this is, as I have said in another thread, I want to start to attempt to make Mod's for the game whether or not they are small ones or big ones. I know it is possible, every game I have seen MMO or not, can be changed or updated visually.
  25. Jarod I meant no disrespect or anything I was just stating what I had heard. I am with you in thinking this is one of worst disasters in modern history, and I do respect how tragic it it is to everyone around the world. My prayers and thoughts go out to all the families affected in this disaster and pray that this situation does not get any worse than it already is.
