  1. I also appreciate the hard work you all put in. Just posting because it seems that every time I wake up the server is offline lol. Poor timing on my part I guess haha!
  2. What's odd is that Tienbau JUST restarted the server not a half hour before the crash.
  3. I have no idea if this is related but sometimes when I CTD after login(password entry), ebconfig fixes it... sometimes. Perhaps it's coincidence?
  4. Make sure you read the Instruction page carefully. There is one little step in there that says you have to run ebconfig.exe before you can play. It's in EAGAMES/Earth & Beyond/EBCONFIG. If you're on vista (or win7, I assume) you have to run as administrator or the settings will not be saved and you won't be able to play. Good luck!
  5. The servers are having problems with the zone change-offs. If you're playing and gate or dock when the server is having this issue, you'll hang on the load screen. If you try to log in while the server is having this issue, you'll hang on the load screen. I've been playing fine for the past few times it's happened. You just have to stay in the same zone until people start logging back in.
  6. It is server-side. The servers are having problems with the zone change-offs. If you're playing and gate or dock when the server is having this issue, you'll hang on the load screen. If you try to log in while the server is having this issue, you'll hang on the load screen. I've been playing fine for the past few times it's happened. 7. I'm also having this exact same problem. Stuck on load screen after character select. It's happening on multiple machines (Xp and vista) and on multiple accounts.
  8. Try running the Ebconfig.exe file before playing the game. it's in EAGAMES/Earth & beyond/EBCONFIG folder. that should fix it right up.
  9. Make sure you run the enbconfig.exe before you try to play the game... It's in EAGAMES/earth and beyond/EBCONFIG folder. that should fix it.
  10. Ok so I tried ALL of these solutions, re-updating every time, keeping the process the same except for the one variable I am changing. NONE of them worked but one: I changed my desktop resolution down (Way way down) to 1024x764 (might not be exactly right) down from 1920x1080. I then went into EnB config and changed the resolution of the game to the 1024 resolution and now I'm logging in successfully. Thank you and good thinking, Kameleon! Good luck to those who are having the same issue!
  11. I don't think I mentioned this: When I get these freezes, its not just a hiccup... It locks the client down. I can't do anything, and it doesn't recover from it. I have to close the client. The client doesn't close with the Esc menu correctly. Then when I try to log in again, I have to clear the updates and repatch. I have McAffee firewall up. I run monthly scans with McAffee and before this post, I ran another scan. The only programs I have set to run at startup are as follows: laptop touchpad program Mouse driver program Sound controller Keyboard driver program iTunes McAffee siteadvisor McAffee SecurityCenter I prevent anything I don't regularly use to stop from running at startup. I have uTorrent on my computer but like I said I've run scans since the last time I opened it and it does not launch at startup. What would you recommend I use for a system cleaning? >> Update: I was having problems logging in earlier. When I succussfully logged in, the client would close. I was able to resolve that problem. A nice side-effect of solving that problem is that now when I get these freezes, the game actually responds to the Esc menu options. It closes the game down or goes to character selection. It might be linked somehow but I don't know how. >> >> Update on the update: Now when I get these hiccups the game can recover and I can keep doing stuff. (Yay) Thanks.
  12. Update: I was travelling doing a trade route from Earthcorps High Command to Earth station while doing some race/class quests when I entered the Earth from Luna. I was able to enter warp just fine entering the gate from Luna to Sol. By the time I got to Earth Station, I must have had a disconnect because when I registered then docked to Earth Station, the client closed (not froze) on me. That was the first time this has happened to me.
  13. Update: Many times when I get frozen during a conversation with an NPC it happens with a vendor (go figure huh ). When I get stuck with them, I notice that when i close the trade window with them, it goes back to the <Done><Trade> window. When I'm at the <Done><Trade> window, nothing happens. Nothing at all. When I click <Done> from the <Done><trade> window, nothing happens. When I click <Trade> from the <Done><Trade> window, the trade interface opens up.
  14. Sorry... I made a post in this thread and it has nothing to do with this thread... I'm actually not sure how I posted it here. I meant to put it in another thread. I edited the post to this but if someone can get rid of this post, go ahead.
  15. Update: While I was frozen with the "online manual" open, i was able to surf the net. This means I was still connected to the internet. I was able to browse a bit to verify that my internet connection *through the game* was not compromised. It HAS to be something server-side.
  16. I think this is a very important issue for the Dev team to focus on; Think about the following analogy: The editors of a commercial create a commercial to be flashy yet still grab the attention and focus of the consumer. The editors focus on transitions and the layout and storyboards. They make the commercial concrete and well-designed. The consumer views the commercial because it is flashy and entertaining. They think about the commercial because it is well-designed and makes sense. The editors are the game devs while the consumers are the general gameplay individuals. I would love to be able to help in any way possible. I hope my (in-the-making) A+ certification is helpful to the dev team. Keep me informed.
  17. I get frozen frequently while in-game either in a starbase or out in the galaxy. I can tell it is server side because the client allows me to click targets but does not select them, and if I'm in the sector and try to warp, I get an error message that says, "Warp path not finished. Press warp again" or something to that effect." I think it is due to some kind of packet loss. I believe it to be server-side. The main reason I'm pushing for server stability is because every time I log into the game I have to re-update using enb-up.exe AND LaunchNet7.exe before I can launch successfully. You can imagine it can get a little frustrating to get disconnected for me. ;-) If you have any ideas or suggestions, throw a reply.
  18. First things first: Go to -control panel- and -remove programs- to uninstall EnB and the Net7 client. When you've uninstalled go to My Computer and go to the folders where they were originally installed and manually delete them. The uninstaller does not delete the old files. Start the process again: Run the demo.exe to install the client *As The Administrator*. You can probably use the default directory of Program Files >> EA Games >> Earth and Beyond. That way, the default locations for other programs that use the client don't have to be changed. Next run enb-up.exe *As The Administrator*. The enb-up.exe program will ask you to locate the e&b.exe. This should be in the Earth & Beyond folder to whereever you saved it. Browse to open the Earth & Beyond folder and then press open. (The search bar should already have the "e&b" typed in the bar. If not just click the e&b.exe program) After the update patch is applied run the Net7 *As The Administrator*. The Net7 application should self update itself. You should be ready to rock-and-roll and play. P.S.: If you didn't notice, EnB needs administrator rights all around. It might be a good idea to right click the EA Games directory and give it full read/write privelages. Secondly, it might be a good idea to run e&b in compatibility mode. To do this, right click the e&b.exe application in the EA Games >> Earth & Beyond folder and go to properties. Go to the compatibility tab and depending on your operating system, I would have it run maybe in XP. I hope this helps! Keep reading in the forums to see if anyone else is having any similar problems to find a solution. Good luck!
  19. Did you uninstall yet? If you uninstall, go in and manually delete the directories that are left behind. See if a fresh install helps anything.
  20. The EnB Emulator needs administrator privelages all around. In highest directory, give it full read/write privelages just in case. I would also go into each folder and find each application and have it run with administrator privelages. I would give another shot at uninstalling the enb game with the control panel then manually deleting the directories and then re-install. Install order is: EnB_Demo.exe, enb_up.exe, then the Net-7 one. Then start Net-7 as an admin and see if you can log on.
  21. I have EVERYTHING to run as admin, full read/write, the whole nine and im running vista 32. I have a temporary solution that Kenu tipped me off to: Every time I want to log on I: In the N7 loader, in the upper left hand corner i click "Launcher" then click reset updates. When the reset update window comes up I defer the option to check for new updates because that alone does not work for me. Next I run the enb_up.exe program and update it (all this with admin of course). Then I run the N7 launcher and since i reset the updates it will re-patch N7. In conclusion, all i have to do is clear the updates, then re-update in the same order you would update when you install. It takes about 5 minutes or so but it works (almost) every time.
  22. Ok so i've been digging around and trying to figure stuff out. As I keep trying to figure out what might be going on I might have stumbled on something. If it keeps closing from the second time on, something has to have changed, maybe the location the program client runs from. On the cmd window the C:\ directory looks like it is a temporary file. /Client: C:\Progra~1\EAGame~1\Earth&~1\release\client.exe (No clue why) I turned off network firewalls, even forwarded ports 3500-3801 on my router. I Keep thinking it has something to do with the communications with the server. Since I can log on once and log off once, the server might still think i should be logged off even though i'm trying to log onto the game server. I also dug around and tried to figure out what each application does and how the emulator uses it. The emulator uses the "Detours" application to run the game and I found the "ClientDetours.log". I looked through it and i found an error that was logged. After the error, there were a series of lines that seemed to close the application and whatnot. The error is "error=10035" This is the ClientDetours.log copy-pasted: Attached ClientDetours.dll to client.exe process Changed debug_flag from 0 to 1 fopen("..\data\client\text\roc.txt", "r") returned FILE * 0x00bcfb08 fclose(f=0x00bcfb08) returned 0 Earth and Beyond Build: Release Tue Mar 16 2004 05:46:17 PM initializing the asset manager... ok [done initializing the asset manager] (0 ms) initializing WW3D... ok [done initializing WW3D] (133 ms) initializing input handler...
