  1. I had great RD faction back in live, and I'm all about being a [Drunken] Pirate %) but It'd be cool to join the Chavez. "Hola diablos, como esta? Our music plays, but not for you!" Great scripted dialogue and mob vs. mob battles back in live. Heck, bring back the Montagues across the "ailse" of Odin Rex from the Chavez. They'd have huge scripted battles raging all the time like back in original beta. That was fun stuff.
  2. Props for waiting. They'd just be eyecandy at this point. They don't really have any purpose yet, especially for only stress tests, tho at some point they will have to be "tested" before their content is finalized and put live.
  3. Not every roid field had a guardian. I'd say most probably didn't have one, from my experience in live as PE, but may contain a few poproids. No Jenq plasma. I think I've said that many times before, but it bears repeating: JE are not lone fighters, nor fighters at all. They must team up with each other, or with a warrior friend. JT probably should use missiles and kite. JW should "downgrade" and just use the terran plasma, or some of the rarer "organic" loot only plasma beams. Iirc they kinda looked like a dragonglare, but may have also only gone up to L8. Still... between those & terran L8 plasma, these were pretty good beams for any non-boss just random or lone field guardian mob. Jenqs in general are geared to fight other humans when they fight. Progen in general fight bugs. Terrans can kinda do either. I say that just very, very generally based on overall assessment of weapon types, methods, buffs/debuffs. Jenqs just don't like killing animals, especially by burning them to death slowly with plasma. They're treehuggers and bunny petters. JE are awesome. They will remain very strong characters, despite TE inclusion now.
  4. ...right, but it's easy No plans atm to make an OC guild, because we're only in stress test, not even alpha or beta, but all old members and new guys interested in OC are welcome to chat here, post here, throw ideas, remember good times & new times. Until some of our old leaders like Zeta or Xt or etc come back around, I guess I'm kinda a temporary corp supervisor? But I don't want to lead. Done in life with leading clans and such & will let the younger set have fun with that I'll tentatively say I have the latitude and power to announce a temporary alliance/partnership with Red Sun Associates for all Omega Corps members. Team up with them, join, chat, etc I think it'd be cool & preferable to keep using all our old names from original EnB, and maybe Omega Corps themed names for ships or alt characters, eh? As for me, it may not be very creative, but I'll always just be "Ghent"

  6. ...you know, you could make a new CDev to specifically do that - finish & bugfix mobs, roids, loot (all the spawns)... It's been needing attention for over a year or more.
  7. +1 each to Fuulish and Avani. We mustn't raise warp speeds any at the top end. Bottom end lowering, sure, this might be good. Good idea. Maybe this: L1 - L9 1000 , 1250 , 1500 , 2000 , 2500 , 3000 , 3500 , 4000 , 5000 (GetCo branded terran engines only) I think Jenq L8 engines should get one 4250 or 4500 max warp engine. They did, afterall, invent warp drive, but it was later stolen by terrans, of which, GETCo are better known in the backstory for the best engines, over IC. We may need to get a little geometric scaling script going to shrink the newbie starter sectors (new ones only) that are a bit large, and thus a bit slow for newbs to navigate, so they don't become bored, frustrated with new slower warp speeds. Ganymede, Mars Gamma mosly. I think Eq.Earth is smallish enough already. Progen are slow thrust, slow warp both, L8 max. Consider giving JT, PT, TT (all traders) access to use L9 engines. Some players may want a high sig. Suggest no sig buffs to non-Jenq engines. Solar Sail line can be expanded by hunting the right types of Bogeril, by a mission line, or by building Bogeril faction (or all of the above). Jenq engines can continue or start a new higher level line with sig-lowering buffs like the lower level ones currently have (Mercurius?). 200% QL should affect: all buffs, thrust, charge time, recover time. (never warp) To encourage use of engines, gotta get players excited about them. To get them excited about them, we have to have good & useful buffs, variety, access, more builders, (more incentives). JT, TT, TW, TE, PT should probably all build engines. We are no longer in the very segregated and limited situation of original EnB with only 6 race/class combos. Each race can & should build all their own equip internally now.
  8. Sure. I was going to compose a post-restart/changes faction picture as well, but I can see no discernable changes post-restart vs. pre-restart. Anseria might have increased very, very slightly. I'm guessing that isn't what you wanted to hear %) Not a bad thing. Nothing really seems to be "wrong" per se, with my characters' factions. I just wanted to get people to post pre/post faction pictures for comparison.
  9. Are you going to make them new NPCs, or furnish existing NPCs with known personalities with these mission talk trees? There's already some good personalities and archetypes among the progen NPCs. Be careful to not duplicate any of them with a new NPC. You're a pretty creative guy, Byakhee. You can do it. (leveling up a PT right now to see all this, but only Lv40 currently)
  10. Jenqs are a device race, and should all get L9 devices. As for engines - faster speeds could = more lag from position calculations and updates. At least this was the case in original EnB, and in general for most MMOGs. Engine upgrades could be incentivized with better buffs on higher level engines, as well as a more gradual increase curve for thrust/warp across levels of engines.
  11. A known bug with the PT, due to gun mount points used in certain hull-wing combinations. We first found out about it over 2 years ago or so, iirc. I thought it was fixed by using a combination of changing an .ini file and changes to the server's choosing proper mount points. Maybe not? :/
  12. IF someone regards anyone else in EnB as "dregs" or "lowest common denominator", then they don't understand the nature of EnB, imo. Tyran - some people would turn on the toilet channel expressly to go in and say they don't like it %) heh But seriously, how can anyone worry so much about chat in EnB? You can't even read the text against most of the sector backgrounds anyways. Other than keeping out swear words for the kids, it just doesn't warrant any strict GM or player policing. Chats need a critical mass of "watchers" to generate enough of the few "talkers" to have a variety of ideas and make things interesting. At this point, with ~200 on or less, I suggest that only happens in New Players, not OOC or General. Worry less, test more

Mostly self-explanatory from the in-game descriptions, BUT... after you recieve the mission to kill the Red Dragons (stage 1/4), just talk to the NPC again to get to stage 2/4, _then_ go out into space to destroy the RD freighter(s) for stage 3/4. Then back to the station to complete & get the green light to head to Mars & Arx Magister for the upgrade. Take along some trade goods (drive waste) to sell to Arx Magister, and 10k credits for the Hull upgrade cost.
  16. I'm glad someone else is having similar difficulties as myself... ok not really glad, but at least comforted it's not merely my own connection, or wireless problems. Packet opt off/on made no difference for me either. I don't see a lot of others complaining about this in-game, tho. We may have a rare, but important, problem. Pretty much all the same symptoms, tho usually I relogin at the same place (unless anywhere in a grav-well, then I always get moved to the edge again). Very frequent discons, especially if I spend more than a few seconds idle.
  17. This is just a general request to community members, and forum admins. I think some users' flash sig pics are causing forum loading/navigating abnormalities, freezes, or browser crashes (even with the most recent version of flash installed) Can we be kind to other forum users and limit sig pics to 1 picture, and no flash inclusions? thanks.
  18. I'll agree with Avani. No it wouldn't kill or hurt the game. In fact, the emulator needs all build skills distributed inside of each race. At one point & one previous iteration of the dev team, we all had agreed on that. Dunno why it changed. Ghengis - respect the backstory. There's nothing at all in there about terrans not building reactors or jenqs not building shields, or progens not building engines. Don't make up stuff just for your own ends. Fact is this, the 3 races DO NOT get along, AT ALL. The so-called peace after the Gate War is nothing of the sort. There is still a state of near war, growing unrest, constant conflict between the 3 races. There is no good reason at all why each race wouldn't be making all their own items internally between their own classes and try to rely less on the other races. EnB is a powderkeg. Fuse is lit. Only a matter of time... Conflict between races and classes deepens our future storylines' potential, and provides for more roleplay opportunities for those players interested in it. Fact is, originally WW intended for JT,PT,TT to build engines & shields. JE,PE,TE to build reactors. (other skills not addressed here) When they removed 3 classes from the original release, they had to make accomodations with rebalancing and shifted the build shield skill to the PE instead of the PT, so the progens would be able to have the best player-made shields in-game (and took away build reactors). Thus it was we ended up with JE,JW,PE,PW,TT,TW as we did, and the other 3 character types left out, and some of their skills left out.

  20. It may still be the case that "Default" damage is explosive, as was a year or 2 ago? Hard to tell, without knowing what the current server code is actually doing, and what the progress is on the mob DB. Used to be, we had all mobs defaulting to a laser. We had to go in for each mob and put in all their equipment & stats & loot items, then go into the itemBase and make sure that the mob's gun was entered correctly with all its stats and correct damage type and ammo type... It wasn't hard, just kinda time consuming, but I don't think very many mobs were ever entered correctly last I knew. Not sure much attention has been given them (in general) since. A few mobs, yes, have received great attention and good job to whomever did that.
  21. Nah, wifey just isn't buying anything to do with EnB so far :/ Not even telling her that it used part of the same game engine as Sims worked to interest her. At least she tolerates short stints of EnB playing.
  22. Won't matter much. People are using sig pics now, which are larger than mere text lists of names, plus your forum avatar + info sidebar over there on the left side is larger vertically than most short posts + sigs.
  23. I know this can be changed to a different directory than the default, like D:/enb/etc/ via the N7 launcher, but is there a /command to use from DOS/commandline to change the directory that n7proxy looks in to start client.exe? (in the case like mine right now where we are unable to run N7 launcher properly)
