Client not working properly anymore

Recommended Posts

Until about 6 weeks ago the Net-7 client version 2.0 has worked flawlessly and started up seconds from the moment I turned it on. About 5 to 6 weeks ago it starts to take a minute of two to check the updates. Last night I ran the "check for updates" tool on it and it took 5 minutes or so to complete. When I tried to reset updates it took the same 5-6 minutes. This morning it doesn't ever find the updates. If I touch the client anywhere with the cursor it displays that it's not responding. If I run the Windows Task Manager I get the same. Its like beating a dead horse.

What can I do?

By the way -- I have a second older computer that runs the client in seconds just like my primary computer used to do. Within 20 seconds Megan was wishing me well :)

If you recently got updates on your newer machine that could be causing the problem.

You kind of answered it yourself that it's not the client itself but your machine causing the issue.

Look at what has changed since the time you started having problems and see if it is something you can 'turn off' while playing.

Good luck!

I had the same problem for a month+ before I fugured out how to fix it. Goto %AppData%\Local\LaunchNet7 and delete all files and folders... also do %AppData%\Local\Net7 . clearing those 2 directories fixed my install

When I click on the game icon and the client comes on the page it takes about 15 minutes to stop updating the files. I don't even bother to watch it anymore. I start it and then go play something else. Even when its ready and the policy pops up to accept or reject (it doesn't come up for 35 seconds.

Alurra you said before that there is something on the computer making this happen. My 9 year old computer that I run a second account on has a hard drive that is nearly full. It hasn't been formatted since it was new. It has been hacked in the past (twice), but all that has been  fixed. Even so it is a mess and takes a log time to boot up.''Even with all that EnB loads up very fast. That kind of kills the idea that its the computer's fault.

The proxy server software can NOT be different from one computer in your house to another. Even with your old system loaded down with crap, it is obviously NOT the same crap that is interfering with your new system. You can NOT blame the client at this point simply because you have not even loaded into the game server at this point. If you feel it is not the computers fault then you should explain where the fault lies?

Is the new computer a new "Windows 8" system? Those things are a PITA in relation to this game to begin with, and me personally, I think anyone who gets a windows 8 system should be entitled to a free downgrade certificate from MS to Windows 7. If you want to play with 'tiles' and such, buy a dang smartphone or tablet and use Android LOL

I know that I get different start up times through each one of my 3 computers. 2 run Win 7, the other runs Win XP. Each of them has their specific uses and each of them uses different softwares. I can account for WHY each of them behave differently on startup solely based on what softwares I am using. On this particular machine, I can not get proper updates to the proxy server without first making adjustments to my antivirus software. I don't use the same A/V on my Win xp machine and I don't have a problem updating the proxy server. Do you kind of see where I am going with this?

SOMETHING in your computer is causing the proxy server to have to think too hard before it can get to the next step. Whether it's a particular piece of software, a setting that was updated/enabled on a patch update from Windows or a simple setting you had to make to get something else working properly. It would be up to you to now find out what is causing that issue, and either A: Turn it back off/remove it so it is not causing that issue or B: Continue to deal with it as is and pass the information along to the devs so they can verify it is a problem with interaction with their software and perhaps 'insert' something to override that confilct and make it stop.

Otherwise, if you just feel like you need a place to vent with the dookie hits the fan, as we all do, then please, by all means, continue on with this thread each time the software misbehaves.

Do not think that I am attacking you, or just trying to give you a hard time. I am trying to get you to understand how your softwares work within your computer and how sometimes, the most simple of stupid little things can cause an entire system to lock up and behave erratically. Even if other stuff on the same system is functioning perfectly.

Also, turn off ALL security software that is running on your system and THEN turn on the Net7 launcher and see if it makes a difference. If it does, then you now know that ONE of those items is your culprit. But PLEASE, do not leave your system wide open like that. Another option might be to turn off the UAC and see if that is somehow keeping your system from generating the 'please accept' message. I also do not suggest you leave your UAC completely off, but only as a testing measure to see what is causing the hold up.

Good luck!
