> Welcome To the Enb Emulator

Welcome to the future of EnB.

To keep it simple, the main goal of our little project here is to get a fully working Earth & Beyond emulator. We have a dedicated team of individuals who currently work on the emulator whenever their spare time dictates, and we also have a great community that is dedicated to seeing their game back in action.

Currently the project is still in very early development as we have just begun to figure out how the client/server interaction should work. However with that being said we have made considerable progress of which can be read about throughout our forums.

If you would like to help out with server-based development, see if your skills fit into one of these categories, via the Application forms.

If you are interested in reading/compiling/or adding to our code, click here to view the thread about SVN location.

If you would like to work on content driven work, please direct your attention to this thread. Hopefully this thread will answer your questions about how you can help.

After a very nice stress test, we're getting ready for another one to see if there's anything we may have missed. We have shut down the server, and are back in CLOSED BETA so please be patient while we prepare for another amazing multiplayer stress test!

Since we are still in development this portal will serve as our makeshift website. We have decided to put off an official website untill we are able to offer a working server or able to provide a specific service. When the time comes, we will upgrade the website and forums accordingly. Untill that point, the portal and these forums will serve as our home during development.

If you are new to the forums, and would like to install the emulator, check out this thread for help.

Once again welcome to the forums.

> Docking Bay: Alpha

Please Leave Feedback! (What else would you like to see? What do you think?)
---------
Hey there guys, me and a few people got together and worked on some things for concept and to prove we can. One of those things was an "Armory". Taking an ENB approach to the naming convention was simple, after a 20 second brainstorm between some of the Teamspeak members, I suddenly said "Docking Bay" and the name sticks.

Currently it's in extreme alpha and has no style or any formatting, and the only colors are black and white... soon to change.

What is an Armory/Docking Bay?

An Armory is a web based version of what your characters ingame stats, weapons, inventory, and other information are, but more interactive.

We plan on spanning this into an interactive item database lookup with asset views, and many other cool features, and maybe even a theorycraft of all things, where you can "try on inventory" and see what kind of damage you would do....who knows (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Below Is a screenshot of my illustrated concept design for a front page where you will begin your search, I hope you enjoy it, and give me some feedback on my work too.

(IMG:http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/2379/34123122.jpg)

So far, the connection to the database works, and the information can be pulled about every character's weapons and slots in their equipment by name, in order.

There is still a WHOLE load of things left to do, and there's time yes, but I would like to release atleast a Beta version of this.

To do that we need certain things done:

  • HTML/CSS Style Sheets
    • Concept (Atleast)
  • Either: Javascript (Or) XML (Or) Ajax; Window Frames and styles
    • Relevent searches and Tiles/Pane Hiding/Showing
  • Functioning data searches
    • Available "Did you mean" type of searches
    • Available Account And Setup For Users Preferences
      • "Do Not Display Me"
        • "Do Not Display Certain Information About Me"
    • Intergrated Item View Via Character's Equiptment
  • Theorycraft (Possibly)
    • Calculations and Skill/Handling Data
    • Forum Intergration

Do you want to help with this? I sure hope you will.

Personally I am only good with theory and graphics, but I know there are gems in this community that can essentially help make this come true!

If you:

  • Have atleast 3 Years PHP experience
    • Self taught is fine too
    • Any of: Javascript/CSS/HTML/XML/AJAX is a HUGE PLUS
    • Fair understanding of images and integration of them into webpages is required
      • Excelled understanding is also a HUGE PLUS
  • Understand databases
  • Work well with others
  • Can visualise and understand concepts or plan well
  • Have atleast 10 hours a week to devote to helping
Than please PM me and I will gladly talk to you about your experience and what you can bring to this project, and assign you status for your own section on the forums, where you can bring ideas to the table and provide you accesses to help perform this service to the community.

Thank you all, and if you have any questions to myself OR the community, you can post them here.

PS. This is NOT vaporware (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

> My Vacation
Posted by Ayusaki - 06-23-09 02:25 - 0 comments
Hey guys, what's happening.

Well everyone suggested it, and finally I'm doing it. I'm taking a vacation.

From the 28th-10th I'm out of New York and going to an undisclosed location across the country, and hanging out with some people.

I'm going to be packing and everything now, it's short notice but the price was right (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Everyone take care of yourselves, sorry to ditch everyone like this but if I were to be leaving on the 29th or 30th I'd be melted in my chair... I'm too burnt out for this and my getaway is coming in fast. I leave the project in the responsible, capable, healthy hands of..... ah crap....nobody really FITS that description..... Let them fight it out (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Actually no, Tienbau and David can handle most of this stuff, and Zapgun is now en-route to helping us out much more!

Take care of yourselves everyone, when I come back I will be hanging out on the servers with everyone (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

> Do Not Pm Developers
Posted by Ayusaki - 06-20-09 17:46 - 0 comments
Our developers are hard working people who do not have time to answer PM's.... They've expressed a concern to me recently that they've been flooded with PM's from users they've never heard about, and are pretty much sick of it.

They've expressed their concern to me numerous times and regardless of the PM's that are being sent, and they're overall, "ticked off" as one dev puts it....

From this moment on, I am authorizing the developers the ability to suspend a user for X number of hours/days depending on how they see fit.

All of them are in the position to be making this decision on their own of who is of the troubling nature to their work.

Our developers are constantly "Taking shifts" and are virtually ALWAYS in the game, they know what's going and all the bugs, without people reporting, just by being around.

We have active beta testers in game who are questioning and interviewing bug creators and exploits for the game.

Our system does not require any more help from members. Everything is under control, and we don't need the influx of "Reports" anymore...

This is going to be on the front page, so you can't say you missed it...

Konbanwa minnasan!

The stress test server is going live, soon.... wait, I'm hearing.... NOW? OH SNAP! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

Today marks the first day of the stress test's opening, sorry for the lateness but there were many things that were needed to get done, but finally it is OUT, the stress test is open to every and all people.

This stress test is just like every other one, except many new things in this one, ask around, you may hear a few things, and learn about it.

I know you're all antsy and ready to go, so I'll get right to it.

A Working version of ENB (Client) IS required prior to the installation of the launcher. We cannot distribute you links to the client directly, but google's a good source to look, and maybe some threads here, too for safe measure.

This installer is REQUIRED, IF you have an older install of Net7, DOWNLOADING This WILL Clear your C:net7 folder and do our fresh install (At the moment this is the ONLY place this will work... Even if your install is on a different drive... sorry, support for different drives will be later on) The launcher WILL replace the once existing patcher, but you have to let it run the updates.

All your previous accounts HAVE BEEN SAVED, so if you were around for ST1/2 you do not need to create another account, and can request your username and password from the signup page.

The only thing we are allowed to distribute is our launcher which will update all the files, and it is a REQUIRED download for THIS STRESS TEST, even if you've been to our other ones.

This Setup file will also allow you to install Myatu's (In my opinion) AWESOME program, that replaces the old configuration for EnB, with a more modern, richer, and more customizable interface for settings and EnB configurating!

Before USING (not installing) the configuration utility, update everything by using the launcher first, after the updates are completed, you may then configure the game. This is a recent problem that arose and the prior is the solution to it.

For those who have NOT signed up yet the download link is right below

Please turn off your spam filters as our sendmail features may not be allowed through all ISP's.

Once the launcher loads, please let it patch files, also, you MAY have to (for some ISP's) use the option to use local cert.
There will be a guide or a self help section here posted by experienced users on how this process works, but for right now I'm exhausted and after 3 hours of setting this up, I'm going to turn in, enjoy the stress test!

The server we're playing on is play.net-7.org

See you on the other side!
